How To Complete Chapter 3 in Frostpunk 2

No matter how tempting New London seems, no one should stop being wary of Whiteout. Even after you've upgraded your generator and found oil deposits, it would be weeks before you could escape the full fury of that cold storm. Your people have reached the agreement by the end of that trial that you need to find Winterhome in Frostpunk 2, Chapter 3. Whatever the faction you will side with, either the Pilgrims or the Stalwarts, you need to find this abandoned settlement before the next Whiteout hits.

Guide for Frostpunk 2, Chapter 3

Chapter 3 of Frostpunk 2 has only two main goals, unlike Chapter 2 with its myriad of objectives. First, find the ruins of Winterhome. Then prepare to settle this city that didn't work out.

And to help you find this abandoned city, the game even provides you with clues as to its location. To reach the Cursed Valley, you need to get across the Gorge. There you will find the city that didn't make it and all of its Cores.

How To Explore The Gorge

Sure, you could send a bunch of Frostland Teams out to search the area, but it would not be wise to do so. The land to your east remains completely uncharted, even now that the whiteout has gone. You need to upgrade your Logistics Districts before you can enter these dangerous areas.

You should start brainstorming a few ideas in the Frostland node of the Idea Tree in the Research Institute. The following are unlockables for Chapter 3: 

The Main Office for Survivalists 

First-Rate Warehouse Facilities

The Survivalists' main base is significant since it can decrease the danger level across the board. An extended Logistic District requires only one building, enabling you to use most of the space for other ventures. Vanguard Logistics Bays is an excellent choice when you want to have more Frostland Teams.

Chapter 3: Winterhome Directions

Thanks to the upgrades you performed in the Logistics District back in Chapter 3, now it's time to plunge head-first into Frostland exploration. Your goal is to cross The Gorge in a northeastern direction. It can only be explored after at least eleven weeks of waiting and deploying twenty Frostland Teams.

It conceals the path to The Cursed Valley. Carta this area you are going to require 20 Frostland Teams and approximately 12 weeks of game-time invested in waiting for them. There, you will locate the ruins that once constituted the very foundations of Winterhome, upon which you can establish a new settlement.

With Chapter 3, you could probably send colonists to this region straight away. That said, you shouldn't necessarily go pressing that button in a rush. Chapter 4 is a bit fiddly, so best go in fully prepared.

Since you'll need to look after Winterhome, you want New London to be in a position where it can fend for itself when you're not around actively managing it. Here's how to do that:

Medical Facilities for Research

Idea Tree, under the Society tab, research Watchtowers. This allows you to recruit your Guard Squads, which you will need to control the rebellion. You won't have to do this in Chapter 3, but will to settle Winterhome.

You should also start researching hospitals since Winterhome is highly poisonous. A colony has to be formed there whatever plot path you choose. Keep in mind that you may want disease-reducing buildings at hand, for the gas will poison your people.

Success usually requires a measure of strategy, adaptability, and a willingness to make those tough decisions in Frostpunk 2.
