Ancient Ruins scattered about the early game contain a treasure trove of experience points and powerful equipment. These eight perilous dungeons, while filled with Level 50+ foes, contain the coveted Ultimate Weapons for each character.
Follow the Traces of the Ancients side quest out of Illystana. This will unlock the follow-up Nemeses Takedown quest, where you face guardians of the Ancient Ruins. It is recommended to do Chapter 7 as, by now, you have Flammie to help you.
By defeating all the enemies around, the seals that lock the guardian chamber will be removed. After defeating them, a cutscene shows how many groups of enemies are remaining. If this doesn't happen, once defeated, a secret passage will unlock into the chamber where the Ultimate Weapon is guarded by one of the toughest Nemeses opponents.
1Charred Passage
The first Ancient Ruin is just off the middle of the starting map, sealed by a group of powerful Goblins. It contains Brutal Guri - an terrifying Goblin Nemeses. Weak to Wind and Light but resistant to Earth and immune to Darkness, Brutal Guri puts up quite the challenge. If you can defeat this beast, it will give you the Mortal Twiliance, one of the most powerful weapons that Val can use.
2 Aery Passage
Being near the Meridian, it will take hardly any travel time. It is guarded by a bunch of enemies, defeating which will provide entrance to Bolt Usus, a strong opponent. He is immune to Earth and Wood but takes huge damage from Wind and Strike. Defeating him will yield Mystic Revelunge, one of the strongest weapons for Careena.
3 Lefeya Drifts
The Ancient Ruin, west of the map, easily accessible from the starting area, also holds its final treasure behind a guardian called Jointed Tikkle. This boss is weak to Fire and Light but resistant against Water and immune to Darkness. Once defeated, finally, the Mystic Ragevise, Careena's ultimate gloves, is yours.
4 Fallow Steppe
Northeast of the final zone on the first continent is The Ancient Ruin. Some seriously armored foes patrol this area. After taking them out, you will come across the Manipulated Bruiser. Use Strike and Darkness attacks, since Moon and Light-based ones do not work here. Take him down to get a very strong weapon for Morley - the Ethereal Shiftcane.
5 Pritta Ridge
Because it's so close to the entrance to Luka Ruin, the Pritta Ridge Ruins aren't much out of your way and it's worth taking the time for. The final treasure guardian is the Astral Thrace harpy, who is weak to Earth, resistant to Wind, and immune to Moon. Take her down to earn the Spirit Acriscythe, a nice weapon for Palamena.
6 Ahrvet's Pasture
Cross the bridge to north side of Pasture and head deep within Ancient Ruin. You'll find inside a Custodial Truffle, weak to slash and wind, but resistant to wood and immune to earth, which drops the Spirit Treadstep upon defeat-a very strong weapon on Palamena.
7 Khawsia Moors
It opens up the ruins of Khawsia Moors, which involves using a Meridian. On it awaits one of the most formidable opponents in the game: Magic User Ambrose. This foe does not have any elemental weakness and, furthermore, has only limited elemental resistance against Fire; otherwise, he is resistant to most elements. You must focus on physical attacks. Be prepared because Ambrose uses powerful magic that can wipe out your party. Defeating this formidable foe will get Julei the weapon known as the Arboreal Paraquell.
8 Zawhak Desert
This is the last Ancient Ruin, located northwest of Zawhak Desert just directly north of Gudju. In it you'll be fighting Extract Miasopia-a very strong monster, immune to physical and Water-based attacks. You can take advantage of its weakness to Fire with moves like Fire Saber. In the chest lies the powerful weapon for Julei, the Arboreal Blossomer.
Doing so will reward you with the Respect for the Ancients Ability Seed for completing both side quests of Traces of the Ancients and Nemeses Takedown, and exploring all Ancient Ruins. This singular seed uses 3% of your HP when using Normal attacks to increase all damage. For teams that have a dedicated healer or any sort of HP recovery class, this can be an extremely powerful seed since the damage boost it provides is pretty high.
These steps will go a long way in helping you be excellently prepared for finding every Ancient Ruin in Visions of Mana and snatching those great treasures therein.
Today in our post we will talk about All difficulty levels available in Visions of Mana.
