Visions of Mana features four difficulties: Beginner, Easy, Normal, and Hard. All difficulty options may be altered at any time during the game outside of battle via the Game Settings menu. Most notably, the difficulty setting changes the behaviours and strategies of enemy AI - with Hard difficulty featuring the greatest challenge - but it also alters other aspects of enemy stats to a lesser degree. For the most part, all enemies feature roughly similar health totals across the four difficulties.

Beginner

Story mode" is targeted at players who just want to chill. The enemies will be less aggressive and, overall, easier to defeat, bosses included. With moderately kept equipment and skills, using your Elemental Points for that, you shouldn't have too many problems in this mode.

Easy

The challenge level is moderate. Most encounters won't be hard but some bosses can give some sort of fight. Overall, the game is rather easy to complete.

Normal

While Normal difficulty is manageable, especially for early-game players, bosses can be a bit more of a challenge. Try observing their attack patterns carefully in bosses and avoid combinations of attacks. Nemesis sometimes can be a problem, too, with their fast dashes.

Hard

Hard mode is for the most experienced, as encounters are much tougher, be they routine or bosses. While somewhat tougher at the beginning, its influence is more explicitly felt when up against bosses and Nemeses. These enemies hit harder than ever before, with instant kills a common occurrence if not kept at arm's length. Bring as many healing items and as many Cups of Wishes as possible to stay alive.

You can turn the difficulty up or down at will, at any time, without penalty, so feel free to crank it up if you'd like an even greater challenge, or lower it if that one fight is just too much. Also, try out all the different Classes and Skills to see which setup you enjoy playing the most.
