Ford Plug-In Hybrids have FOUR drive modes: AUTO EV, EV NOW, EV LATER and EV CHARGE.
To select your EV drive mode, press the EV button*. The selected EV mode is displayed on the digital instrument cluster.
• AUTO EV is the default mode when you start your PHEV. AUTO EV switches between electric and engine operation, delivering the best combination of economy and performance. Energy recovered from braking tops up the battery, maximising electric driving range.
• EV NOW mode is electric only and emission free. Ideal for shorter journeys and a great option for low emission zones. If charge gets too low, the plug-in hybrid automatically switches to engine power until the battery is recharged enough to take over again.
• EV LATER mainly uses the petrol engine, storing battery power for later, making it ideal for longer journeys with a city or low-emission zone destination.
• EV CHARGE uses the engine for driving and charging. Useful if you've used up the battery and want to get back to full charge while on the road. But because the engine works harder, EV CHARGE isn't as efficient as other drive modes. So, we still recommend a full charge before you drive.
