Curry grew up playing basketball, the 16-year-old son of veteran NBA sniper Dell Curry. Curry Jr. learned the intricacies of the game from his father. His sharp shooting and high "basketball IQ" weren't enough to convince college coaches to ignore his lanky frame and unassuming six-foot height. He did not receive a scholarship to a major college basketball program and attended Davidson College in North Carolina, which has a student body of fewer than 2,000. However, he quickly made a name for himself, averaging 21.5 points per game as a freshman, leading all first-year players in the country. Curry became a national sensation during his sophomore season when he led Davidson to a surprise No. 10 finish in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, a feat that was quickly recognized as his Signature Shot: Three-pointer from beyond the free throw line. His junior season didn't see such postseason feats, but he led the nation in scoring with 28.6 points per game and he was named a consensus first-team All-American. He then entered the 2009 NBA Draft and was selected by the Warriors with the seventh overall pick in the first round.
One of the most successful players in the NBA, Curry has also become an international celebrity, joining four-time MVP LeBron James. Like James, he's considered the face of the NBA, but says he's not motivated and isn't trying to "get on LeBron's throne or anything. You know I'm trying to find a ring, and that's all I have. So that's Where my conversation left off. His flamboyant style of play and penchant for serving the ball in clutch moments has made him a fan favorite, and his smaller frame is said to make him more accessible to young NBA fans. Curry's jersey is The NBA's best-selling jerseys for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 NBA seasons.
In Game 6 on Thursday, Curry broke out to a full buffet. He sent the Celtics' Al Horford to an expensive row of seats with a feint. He lures defenders into traps and passes to cut teammates. And after a big commotion in the third quarter, he stared at the crowd and pointed with his ring finger. (Translation: He's ready for more jewelry.)
Stephen Curry said Subway changed the fast-food landscape when it first opened, but noted that sometimes you need a refresh to maintain an edge. The star athlete welcomes you to the subway to "eat fresh and pick yourself up," but is surprised by the new sandwich in front of him. Simone Biles turned sideways and explained that Subway was refreshing with new sandwiches, better toppings and better speakers.
