Our suite of products combines cutting-edge design and world-class engineering, making it easier than ever to establish and own your online presence. 00:00 [Music] 00:03 for a really long time art history or 00:06 art had told one story and that was by 00:09 design 00:10 one of the things that I'm trying to do 00:12 is kind of fill some of those gaps my 00:16 name is Antoine Sargent I'm a writer 00:18 living in New York and I just released a 00:21 book called a new black vanguard 00:23 photography between art and fashion I 00:26 wrote the new black vanguard because I 00:28 was looking around and thinking about 00:30 what was missing in photography what was 00:32 missing and our ideas around what desire 00:35 looks like what beauty looks like what 00:39 blackness is in the space of a 00:41 photograph and I just found these young 00:43 photographers around the world creating 00:45 by their own standards and by their own 00:47 definitions the new black vanguard would 00:50 not be possible without the internet 00:51 most of these image makers came of age 00:54 on internet and largely make images for 00:57 digital consumption the Internet has 00:59 allowed them a way to control their own 01:01 narratives to create the images that 01:03 they want to see in the world 01:05 people were like running up and crying 01:07 and saying you know I feel really 01:09 represented I feel really seen and you 01:11 know in it for a second it made me you 01:13 know a little sad that like it took 01:15 until 2019 for someone to have that type 01:18 of responds to their culture to things 01:21 in our society but otherwise it made me 01:23 extremely optimistic that I could create 01:25 a space that was safe for people to 01:30 truly kind of see themselves and 2020 01:35 and beyond I'm just hoping to sit with 01:36 more artists and to understand their 01:39 process and what it says about who we 01:42 are 01:44 I'm going to continue doing the work 01:46 that I've been doing because I find it 01:48 to be extremely important I really do 01:50 believe that artists are working through 01:53 some of the most complicated questions 01:55 that our societies face and I think 01:58 that's endlessly fascinating- advertisement spot 2020
