Keep hitting all those high notes ❤️🎶 00:00 there's been a lack of communication 00:02 between my parents and I when I came out 00:04 to them as gay I felt like I didn't 00:09 belong in life there's a lot of 00:12 expectations set from peers teachers it 00:16 weighs down on you to the point where 00:18 you can't be yourself people tell you be 00:21 yourself as long as your self fits their 00:23 standards my name is Sean and I work at 00:31 Sephora Pine Crest in Ohio I'm a 00:34 licensed beauty advisor meaning I get to 00:37 share a connection share Beauty share 00:39 what it means to feel beautiful 00:40 that makes me wake up every morning 00:42 knowing I'm doing something good with my 00:44 day at Sephora i express myself how I 00:48 wish then by gender so that's where the 00:51 inspiration for my makeup came from 00:53 today some of the challenges I faced in 00:55 the past have to do with being told what 00:58 you are isn't allowed I don't think that 01:02 I fit in in high school I wanted to 01:04 perform as a drag queen onstage at my 01:06 talent show and unfortunately my 01:10 principal told me no you're not allowed 01:12 I was being told what I was I I didn't 01:20 know what to do 01:22 ultimately what helped me overcome my 01:25 challenges was letting myself be me 01:27 pushing limits and once I broke that ice 01:31 that initial ice and fear of I can't do 01:34 that I realized wait yes I can I ended 01:40 up performing I wore my button-up I wore 01:44 my vest I wore my slacks and I also wore 01:46 my 6-inch pumps and I revealed my vest 01:50 to show off my rainbow suspenders at the 01:52 high note saying I am what I am it's 02:00 amazing how far my family has come in 02:02 supporting me they didn't always 02:04 understand and they won't always 02:07 understand but they make me feel like I 02:10 belong by welcoming me as me I want the 02:15 world to know that you're the forefront 02:17 of what you want to be you set your own 02:20 bar you set your own space and filling 02:22 that space with your own confidence 02:24 leaves room for you to grow in ways 02:26 unimaginable- advertisement spot 2020
