We’re grateful to help tell your story this International Week of Deaf People ❤️️ 0:00 I'm not a monster 0:02 I'm really not I think there's just an 0:04 easier way that we can just do better to 0:07 respect deaf people and other people 0:09 with disabilities all of us have value 0:11 by sheer virtue that we are human beings 0:20 [Music] 0:24 hi everybody my name is Bridget this is 0:27 my name sign born and raised in Chicago 0:30 I am an afro-latina woman and I have 0:33 three codas 0:34 and one on the way 0:37 I am a business owner 0:39 and I'm a strong advocate for the ASL 0:41 community 0:43 I think it's important that we make ASL 0:45 much more readily accessible to 0:48 different platforms like social media 0:49 and even the news and everything else 0:51 it's 2022 and we're very behind 0:55 beauty is inspiring others 0:58 just like going to Sephora to shop it 1:00 gives me that sense of self 1:02 it bolsters my self-esteem and then 1:05 really just caring for my skin and 1:07 taking care of my hair is just as 1:09 important as taking care of my heart and 1:11 my body 1:13 when I went into a Sephora I felt like a 1:15 kid in a candy store 1:16 and I'm able to see people that look 1:19 like me 1:20 because I know that people that look 1:22 like me also go to these stores 1:26 I believe Sephora really believes in 1:28 Beauty because they Inspire us 1:32 they make us feel valued 1:35 so I have three codas and codas means 1:38 child of deaf adults and those people 1:40 that are Koda code are under the age of 1:42 18 but Coda typically are those that are 1:45 18 and older and I think I'm still going 1:47 to call them codas with the k for the 1:48 rest of their lives because they're 1:49 still my babies 1:52 I want the world to do better by us 1:56 to make it more accessible for us not 1:58 just myself don't walk away if you see 2:00 deaf people 2:01 we're human just like you are 2:05 typically when I see look in the mirror 2:07 I remind myself I said you know what you 2:09 are Bridget you are confident you do not 2:12 give up 2:13 even though you have a disability 2:16 you have potential period 2:18 don't give up you're gonna show them 2:23 [Music] - advertisement spot 2022
