In Episode 01 of ROG Masters Talk 2020, we had the opportunity to get immersed in the universe of 10 Chambers Collective, a young independent Swedish gaming studio based in Stockholm, that without external backing, has made its debut with GTFO, a terrifying new 4-player co-op hardcore experience for first-person shooter players. It features edge-of-your-seat suspense, team-based puzzle-solving and high-intensity combat. 00:01 they're screaming at me I don't hear 00:04 them but they know this it's a brand 00:07 it's s upposed to be difficult when they 00:11 talk our gtfo you played gtfo that games 00:14 hard as well it's gonna be very exciting 00:17 to be part of like from the first 00:20 concept like actually getting this game 00:22 out I hope you Badgers are looking 00:25 upwards in the oil those fuckers might 00:28 be anywhere we wanted to really sort of 00:32 dive into that space and try to make a 00:35 game that really puts emphasis on 00:38 depending on each other 00:50 as a composer and sound designer really 00:52 wanted to to work with horror games so 00:55 I'm happy that now that after 19 years 00:57 actually get to to do the the audio for 01:01 a proper horror game something real 01:05 flows we began a journey where you build 01:10 up from from essentially nothing to 01:14 actually being a Vista established a 01:16 game like this and we wanted to really 01:19 sort of dive into that space and and try 01:22 to make a game that really puts emphasis 01:25 on depending on each other sort of like 01:29 an old-school cooperative game like they 01:32 used to be sort of but they just take it 01:34 even further a lot of games claim to be 01:37 cooperative but they're really only 01:39 games where you are allowed if you want 01:41 to to play alongside other players in 01:43 the same team it doesn't necessarily 01:45 mean that you need to cooperate 01:47 gtfo is a game where cooperation is 01:50 absolutely crucial it's gonna be 01:52 difficult it's gonna be demanding you 01:53 can't really play it absent mindedly or 01:56 sort of with a casual approach it's 01:59 supposed to be very hard so that when 02:01 people talk about the game everyone is 02:03 in agreement what the what the game 02:06 demands and what the game is all about 02:12 being a small team allows us to be very 02:15 agile that we can come up with ideas and 02:18 then just bounce them around within the 02:21 team quickly 02:22 there's no hierarchies where we have to 02:24 like email you know mid-level management 02:27 and everything has to be approved and 02:29 stuff like that it's more like everyone 02:31 is in the webcam conference meeting and 02:35 everyone sort of starts working on their 02:38 respective part the reason why we work a 02:40 lot on likes through video conference 02:44 systems is because we have families and 02:47 we have also different working hours 02:50 some work better at night some work 02:52 better they in a smaller company 02:55 whenever you're slightly uninspired 02:58 within one field you can always jump to 03:00 something else and that often allows 03:03 inspiration to come and then you can 03:05 return to that task later with some some 03:09 fresh inspiration and then also we spent 03:11 a lot of time away from families in the 03:16 sort of prior to this in the earlier 03:19 work we've done and people in the team 03:21 that just got kids and they we sort of 03:24 try to get them to not miss out on their 03:27 kids like we did I guess 03:31 and actually we're a lot more effective 03:34 at home just being alone you can you can 03:36 shut everybody out for a couple hours 03:38 you can you can sort of decide when the 03:41 work I sort of missed the days of 03:44 sweating in a in a small office together 03:48 with a bunch of people but at the same 03:52 time I don't miss it at all it's really 03:55 exciting it's really tough and 03:56 challenging as well like I mean 03:58 physically mentally because well there's 04:00 a lot of passion over these last couple 04:02 of years that are poured into this game 04:04 we hope that gtfo becomes the gold 04:07 standard when it comes to cooperative 04:10 games if we listen to people when they 04:12 said that they wanted it an easy mode 04:14 for the game that would be like guinness 04:16 like making an IPA or 04:18 [Music]- advertisement spot 2020
