VIDEO PlayStation Rock of Ages 3 - Dev Diary #1: Rock Solid Foundations | PS4 TV commercial 2020 • Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break is competitive tower defense and arcade action rolled up with ACE Team's quirky, Monty Python-esque humor into one giant, creative game for the ages coming to PS4 in early 2020. 00:21 Originally, like, when we were designing the game, 00:23 it was conceptualized as just you have this ball and you have go through an obstacle course. 00:27 but we thought wouldn't it be more fun if your ball is a giant rock 00:31 and the obstacle course is not just obstacles 00:34 but the entire enemy army. 00:35 But the tone, of course, is silly. 00:38 It's kind of Monty Python, the sort of humor. 00:43 So we knew that we wanted to introduce from a design perspective 00:46 something that felt fresh. 00:48 Then there comes the mix between tower defense with the boulder mechanics. 00:53 But we also thought that the art style that kind of brought in 00:57 brought in Terry Gilliam's, like, cutout animations and everything 01:00 was also something that would give it, like, its own identity. 01:04 The idea that you go through different periods of art history 01:08 rather than just play entirely on a medieval setting. 01:12 I really wanted to have that in. 01:14 Like art history was one of my favorite classes 01:17 and the idea of going through different art periods 01:19 so we could do levels look very different, 01:22 It seemed very fun. 01:27 So for the story in each game 01:28 we wanted it to start based on Greek mythology 01:32 or some sort of myth that's related to a giant rock. 01:36 And if we keep on making Rock of Ages games, we're gonna run out of myths. 01:40 In this case, we're starting with the Odyssey. 01:43 and the first chapter is when Odysseus and the 100 sailors 01:49 are trapped inside of a Cyclops and a cave. 01:53 In this cave the Cyclops blocks the exit with a giant rock. 01:58 And that, of course, is our character The Boulder. 02:04 So the first game was this crazy concept that came out of nowhere 02:09 like a little doodle we drew on a paper that eventually we transformed into what became Rock of Ages 1. 02:16 We did a lot of stuff we wanted to do. 02:19 But then Rock of Ages 2 was more the vision that we originally wanted to do with the game. 02:25 That's why it's bigger and bolder. 02:26 This time we wanted to add -- 02:27 The main thing that we wanted to do but never had the possibility to do 02:32 was a level editor 02:34 where people could make their own levels 02:37 and it's a really big and fun feature. 02:40 We're trying to give the players as much freedom as they can to make their levels 02:46 as unique and different as possible. 02:49 For Rock of Ages 3 we wanted you to be able to break more **** than ever before. 02:53 That means you have more tile sets, more units to break, more boss fights, 02:58 and more of everything than ever before.- advertisement spot 2020
