Share in the comments below to let us know. 00:01 [Music] 00:04 hi I'm Emily Hutchins Nike run Club 00:07 coach in Nike Master Trainer from 00:09 Chicago my area of expertise is strength 00:14 training for the runner and how that 00:15 translates to long-term performance 00:17 fired to your run it's important that 00:19 you work through three mobility drills 00:21 that will translate to the more 00:22 efficient running when you're out on the 00:24 road the first of those drills is going 00:26 to be diaphragmatic breathing what 00:28 you're gonna do is place your hand above 00:29 your chest and one hand at the belly 00:31 make sure to breathe in through your 00:32 nose fill up the belly as much as you 00:35 can and exhale out through the mouth and 00:37 really focus on the big inhale cuz 00:39 that's gonna translate to better lungs 00:41 and stronger lungs when you're out 00:42 running the other drill is called spinal 00:45 extension in flexion so for this drill 00:47 you're gonna be on all fours working 00:49 through range of motion through the low 00:51 back as well as the upper back 00:52 and lastly hip openers it's extremely 00:56 important to help increase range of 00:58 movement this is gonna help translate to 01:01 a more efficient stride when you're out 01:03 runnin on the road in addition to 01:05 mobility strength training is another 01:06 crucial part of a runners training 01:08 regimen 01:08 [Music] 01:11 so I have five drills that are my go-to 01:14 when it comes to making an athlete 01:16 stronger when they're out on the road 01:18 number one is core strength making sure 01:21 an athlete understands how to fire their 01:23 core because that is essentially your 01:24 battery so the stronger your core faster 01:28 you run number two squats making sure 01:32 that your hips your knees and your 01:34 ankles work through certain ranges of 01:36 motion in order to be a stronger runner 01:38 number three is the single leg hinge 01:40 single leg hinge helps target the 01:42 hamstrings and the glutes helps you to 01:45 stay more balanced as a runner number 01:47 four is the step back lunge lunges helps 01:50 to protect the knees but also helps to 01:53 make the legs a little bit stronger 01:54 number five is a pulling pattern runners 01:57 upper bodies are crucial when it comes 02:00 to translating into power so you got to 02:02 make sure that you work that upper body 02:04 what you do to prepare for your run is 02:07 just as important is what you do while 02:08 you're running I want you to use these 02:10 tips to make you a better stronger 02:12 faster runner 02:16 [Music]- advertisement spot 2020
