Terminator: Survivors will be released on early access for PC (Steam) on 24 October 2024 and coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at a later date. 0:05 We had several reasons we decided to develop 0:07 a Survival game in the Terminator universe: 0:11 The first two movies of the Terminator saga 0:14 are stories about survival with characters being hunted down by the Terminator. 0:18 We really wanted to recreate this feeling of constant chase, 0:23 most of the time you'll run until you're ready to face them. 0:27 We also felt the Terminator timeline, 0:29 the post apocalyptic period and especially the events after Judgment Day, 0:34 are a perfect fit in terms of environment to set a Survival game. 0:39 Finally, even if already seen a couple of times in the films 0:43 this period has only been partially explored, 0:46 so being able to flesh this period out, 0:48 and showcase the life of survivors during this time, 0:51 there's no greater honor as fans. 0:54 The story of the game, like the story of the movies, takes place in the USA. 0:58 From an artistic and narrative point of view 1:01 the world building was extremely curated. 1:03 Our goal was to be as realistic and coherent as possible 1:06 in describing a world that carries 1:07 the signs of the conflict narrated in James Cameron's saga. 1:14 Every character, every location has something to tell 1:17 and this happens on multiple levels, considering the periods before the war, 1:21 during the war and after the war. 1:25 The main inspiration definitely comes from James Cameron's movies, 1:29 that we dissected in each and every part in order to fully capture their atmosphere. 1:34 In particular, from the first movie we extracted the tense and suspenseful atmosphere, 1:39 the sensation of being hunted down, and facing an absolutely invincible enemy. 1:44 Then we've done extensive studies on its color palette, its photography and direction. 1:51 From the second movie, we mostly focused on its dynamic aspects, 1:55 its action scenes and its pacing, 1:57 also paying attention to the choice and variety of locations. 2:01 Clearly, other sources of inspiration come from the magical decade between the 80s and 90s, 2:07 where the field of sci-fi and action movies offered masterpieces, 2:10 from which we recall a bit of the vibe and atmosphere in our game. 2:16 There will be various human factions that you'll need to interact with, 2:19 each of them with their own vision of the world, individual objectives, and also 2:25 different beliefs about Skynet and what's happening behind the scenes. 2:30 Combat is realistic and hardcore, 2:33 which means that if your approach 2:35 isn't calculated and tactical you can die very easily. 2:42 You're the underdog, meaning confrontations and fights 2:45 need to be dealt with in different ways. 2:49 You can approach them stealthily or maybe commit to a frontal assault. 2:54 The decision will depend on how many resources you have, 2:57 as resources are very scarce. 3:05 As you struggle to survive, in this harsh world, 3:08 low visibility, a lack of resources, with the threat of radiation, and more. 3:14 The Terminator is the worst possible enemy to have in a situation like this. 3:20 When you come across it looking for humans to terminate, 3:23 your chances of survival are slim. 3:26 Sooner or later it will see you, 3:29 and when this happens it won't let you go 3:31 and your only reasonable option will be to flee. 3:37 We recreated many different environments 3:39 and we paid a lot of attention to the characterization of each biome. 3:43 Survivors will cross mountain lands, 3:45 or desert, small cities, outposts or bigger cities. 3:51 We decided to offer Early Access for this game 3:54 in order to test the survival mechanics with a larger playerbase. 3:59 This way, we can take on players' feedback, 4:02 optimizing and improving the game experience. 4:05 We also believe that Early Access is the best way 4:08 to get the community involved to create a balance that really 4:12 feels like you're fighting for survival.
