See how his mom, Mary, and father-in-law, Gary, gave him the drive he needed to succeed with a mix of coaching and compassion. 00:00 (emotional orchestra music) 00:01 - I don't think I'd be where I am today 00:03 if they weren't in my life. 00:04 They really do mean the world to me, 00:06 and I hope by me doing this, 00:08 they kinda understand how lucky we are. 00:13 (cows mooing) 00:14 (quiet country folk music) - Small town, 00:16 some people might call it, "Remote," 00:19 but other people might call it, 00:20 "A little bit of God's country." 00:22 We counted on the community to help us 00:25 when I went through my divorce, and it was a challenge. 00:28 I worked a lot of hours. 00:30 When Gary joined our family, things got more comfortable. 00:34 It was easier to pay the electric bill. 00:36 We did live in this house for a short while. 00:38 Gary is probably one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, 00:42 so it wasn't hard for my kids to learn to trust Gary. 00:46 - Aw, really? 00:47 Steppin' in to a new family, it's kind of interesting, 00:51 but it just worked. 00:54 He was lookin' for somethin' and it was good for me 00:57 after I'd gone through my divorce, 00:59 and I needed that at that time, too. 01:01 Dallas's first game as a senior in high school. 01:05 - Gary's had a big impact in my football love, 01:09 my football life. 01:09 He was the one that was always there. 01:11 He was probably more excited to drop me off at practice 01:14 than I was to go. 01:15 You know, it was his son playin' football. 01:18 His son doing something that he loved. 01:20 - One of my favorite games was a homecoming game. 01:22 Caught the winning touchdown right down 01:24 in the end zone down there. 01:25 I supported him and encouragement of him made him 01:30 want to be better, and obviously I taught him 01:33 all the one-handed catches. 01:37 - The people that have impacted my life the most 01:39 are my mom and my stepdad, Gary. 01:43 - Oh, the big screen.
