Recognised as the pioneer of modern Chinese painting, Xu Beihong is celebrated for his ink depictions of horses — symbols of vitality, grace and strength in Chinese culture. To reinterpret this iconic equestrian art, the Maison calls upon the mastery of its Métiers Rares™ atelier, uniting guillochage, grand feu enamelling and enamel miniature painting. On the recto, the dial reveals finely executed guilloché beneath translucent enamel colours. On the reverse, an enamel miniature painting demands more than 80 hours of meticulous work, as artisans faithfully reproduce this artist's brushstrokes on a surface of just 2 cm². By combining engraving, enamelling and painting, the Métiers Rares™ atelier transforms Xu Beihong’s vision into a dialogue of motion, affinity and horological artistry. The Standing Horse edition reinterprets Xu Beihong’s 1939 painting, a portrait of quiet nobility and latent power. Its dial displays a herringbone guilloché of 120 engraved lines, overlaid with Crimson Dawn Orange grand feu enamel, echoing the warmth of sunrise in the composition.
