Featuring stories from Oprah Winfrey, Issa Rae, Chlöe Bailey, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, Marsai Martin and Chika. 0:01 what's up everybody I am Tiffany Renee I 0:04 am absolutely in love with the 0:06 versatility of black hair my last five 0:08 years I really grew to like love my hair 0:10 step into like my black Womanhood more 0:12 because my hair was like a statement on 0:14 site 0:15 so that's my hair story now I want to 0:17 hear some of yours 0:19 all right so Amanda tell me how you felt 0:21 about your hair growing up 0:23 honestly I hated it I felt like I know 0:27 it's really sad it like makes me so sad 0:28 to think about it now but I grew up 0:30 around a lot of white people and my hair 0:34 was really framed as like a problem but 0:36 yeah it took me a really long time to 0:38 really like figure it out and how to 0:40 take care of it and how they had to be 0:41 how to be able to be it okay so when did 0:43 that shift happen when did you decide 0:44 like I want to start loving my hair like 0:46 for how it is grow it out wear it curly 0:49 I think like around High School College 0:51 I really started to figure it out and I 0:53 think it's also like that was really 0:55 when the internet was coming up so I 0:56 feel like you just have a lot more 0:58 access to information so you love your 1:00 hair now what would you tell yourself 1:01 when you were younger about your hair oh 1:03 my God I'm just telling myself it's so 1:05 beautiful and that you know I just I 1:08 really wish that I had more of that 1:10 messaging in my life absolutely I think 1:12 we have a lot of that now which is super 1:13 important so for the younger girls 1:15 they'll be set I feel like 1:19 foreign - advertisement spot 2022
