For this project, Carson sought to capture the feelings of an experiential art exhibit and convey them in a visual medium. Exploring the themes of belonging and visibility, this piece uses projection mapping and a floor-to-ceiling LED stage to breathe life into people and places. See it for yourself. 0:02 i've always been a dreamer so surrealism 0:04 is definitely going to be something 0:05 that's recurring throughout my work 0:07 my name is mike carson 0:09 i'm a multi-disciplinary designer and 0:11 director 0:12 [Music] 0:16 so i kind of saw this as an opportunity 0:18 to take my two loves of live design and 0:21 filmmaking and virgin to create this 0:23 kind of installation of sorts 0:26 today we're going to be filming 0:27 different scenarios of different people 0:29 different groups of people we have a 0:30 very diverse cast what we're going to do 0:32 is clip those out and reproject them 0:34 back onto the car it's like an abstract 0:36 way of people seeing themselves inside 0:38 the car 0:39 projection as an art form is really dope 0:41 when you can have a controlled 0:43 environment and i saw this as an 0:44 opportunity to bring that kind of art 0:46 installation feel to the piece whereas i 0:48 feel like the led volume is a bit more 0:50 grand a bit more commercial like 0:53 i definitely was nervous about the 0:55 projection i think only because there's 0:56 not really a reference point of 0:58 projecting people onto a car cover it's 1:00 definitely not something i've done 1:01 before seeing it in real life you know 1:02 it put me at ease super happy with how 1:04 it came out 1:06 people out there that are aspiring 1:08 creatives you don't have to just pick 1:09 one thing whether it's live design and 1:11 concerts or filmmaking or graphic design 1:14 or just overall direction we're in the 1:16 space now where you can dream big and 1:19 there's so many resources to tap into 1:21 your dreams - advertisement spot 2022
