She leaves fully energized to double down on her decision to make her own way. 00:00 When we started Wicker Goddess, 00:01 it kinda fell into our laps. 00:03 We didn't really know that we were building a business 00:05 or creating something this big. 00:07 (upbeat music) 00:12 I just wanted to have a bohemian wedding 00:16 and wicker just fell into that. 00:17 - Every day we were going out, looking at places 00:20 and it just kinda like was an awesome routine 00:22 and we were finding cool stuff. 00:24 - I left the corporate world very recently 00:26 because I wasn't putting myself first. 00:28 My mental health was 500th on the list 00:31 of things I had to do that week 00:33 and this offered me the flexibility 00:35 and creativity that I was searching for. 00:37 - Sarah was very attracted to all this wicker. 00:40 (laughs) 00:41 Everything, wherever we could find it. 00:43 - I vividly remember this one day that it really started. 00:46 We went thrifting. 00:47 We found all this really cool wicker stuff, 00:48 but I was like, well, maybe I'll just try to sell it myself. 00:51 And so that's when I really started posting it. 00:54 After the wedding, we realized there wasn't really 00:57 a market for bohemian home goods, 00:59 vintage, pre-loved, beautiful pieces. 01:01 And that's when the momentum started 01:03 is when we shifted the perspective 01:05 and decided we're buying to sell, 01:07 not we're just buying to enjoy. 01:09 When GoDaddy and Jillian started reaching out to us, 01:12 it made us see, like, this is a real thing 01:14 and people see us as a business. 01:16 It's not a side hustle and that language has to go. 01:19 She told me about this entrepreneur conference 01:21 in San Francisco. 01:22 We were just around such good company, 01:24 entrepreneurs who were working 01:26 towards something bigger and greater 01:28 and if we weren't inspired before, 01:30 we were like at 500% by the end of the day. 01:33 It just really amplified how important what I do is. 01:37 It was amazing. 01:38 It was the best day of my life.
