00:05 The available
00:06 Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist,
00:08 or RCCA, helps reduce the risk of collision
00:12 by using radar sensors to monitor the traffic behind you.
00:15 If a vehicle is detected approaching from the left or right,
00:19 RCCA will alert you and may apply the brakes if appropriate.
00:23 But it only works when activated.
00:26 In the LCD display, select "User Settings",
00:30 then "Driver Assistance".
00:32 Then, "Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning".
00:36 Check the box to activate the system.
00:39 RCCA only functions if you are in reverse
00:42 and moving backwards at less than six miles per hour.
00:47 It helps detect vehicles
00:48 traveling more than five miles per hour,
00:50 and less than 22 and a half miles per hour,
00:53 up to 65 feet away.
00:56 The detection speed and range may vary
00:58 under certain conditions.
01:00 Once a vehicle is detected,
01:02 it sounds a warning chime.
01:04 A warning on the outer edge
01:05 of the side view mirror will flash,
01:07 and an alert appears on the LCD display.
01:11 If the rear view monitor is on,
01:13 a message also appears on the touch screen.
01:16 This warning will stop when
01:18 the detected vehicle moves out of the sensing area,
01:22 the detected vehicle is right behind you,
01:25 the detected vehicle slows down,
01:27 the detected vehicle is not approaching your vehicle.
01:31 If a collision with a vehicle is likely,
01:34 RCCA may apply the brakes momentarily.
01:37 Please note that each time
01:39 you put the shift lever in reverse,
01:41 RCCA will intercede with automatic braking only once
01:45 if a cross-traffic collision is likely.
01:47 After the brakes have activated,
01:49 you must then take control.
01:52 Remember that RCCA is designed to detect
01:55 and help to prevent collisions with vehicles only.
01:58 RCCA is not intended to detect pedestrians.
02:03 You should avoid placing stickers
02:05 or other obstructing items over the sensor areas.
02:08 Doing so may cause the system to not operate correctly.
02:12 Please consult the owner's manual for info
02:15 on where the sensor areas are,
02:17 as well as more information on the parking warning system.
02:20 The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist system
02:23 is a valuable safety tool,
02:25 but it does have its limitations of operation,
02:27 including when there is a vehicle or structure near
02:31 that blocks the sensor's range,
02:33 your are driving in a complex parking environment,
02:36 with many moving vehicles,
02:38 or backing out on a steep road.
02:40 For a more complete list of limitations,
02:43 please refer to your owner's manual.
02:46 Remember that you are in control of your vehicle.
02:49 Always keep in mind that safe driving
02:51 is your responsibility.- advertisement spot 2019
