VIDEO Foot Locker Black History Month | NOW & NEXT Round Table Discussion Part 1 TV commercial 2020 • In celebration of Black History Month, the Foot Locker team shared a meaningful discussion about their journey, owning the present, and advice for the next generation. 00:00[Music] 00:07 we over to ourselves to make sure that 00:10 we champion these opportunities and be a 00:13 part of the forefront or whatever the 00:15 execution is the strategy is and and it 00:18 gives us more of an opportunity to be 00:19 heard correctly 00:20 a lot of the bogging dollar that funds 00:22 you know the companies that we work in 00:25 and work with are from black and brown 00:27 communities so it's important that we 00:29 had people in the internal level who can 00:31 create that a cohesive storytelling that 00:34 is for the audience who are gonna become 00:36 more competitive is not just giving your 00:38 money it's like we're here for you it's 00:40 important for us to continue to be bomb 00:43 at what we do get noticed but also bring 00:45 that next person up and I think that the 00:47 generation of black people in the 00:48 industry today has absolutely people I 00:50 think that's inspiration it's all 00:51 talking about it like that we're seeing 00:53 that and it is touching us and I think 00:55 each generation has some another certain 00:57 way and so our grander the target our 00:59 grandparents were one way our parents 01:01 and out comes to us and we're able to 01:03 take all the learners from their 01:04 generation in pint-sized but me more 01:05 creative and be more open and bring 01:07 people along because these channels are 01:09 now right here for us to see and grow 01:10 with 01:14 the biggest thing I've seen when not 01:17 even in the flora industry when I first 01:19 graduated from undergrad or even for 01:20 graduate school going to these companies 01:22 and applied and you see my resume you 01:26 see my face on paper 01:27 but when I open that door and then you 01:29 shake my hand you know you already can't 01:31 read how other people are reading you 01:33 and the fact that it's me knowing that I 01:35 have to come in and operate it 01:37 differently that maybe not Who I am just 01:39 to make sure that you don't judge me for 01:40 who you think I'm not nine times out of 01:43 ten been the only woman in the room and 01:45 you know it's definitely came a long way 01:48 from then and now I can honestly say 01:51 that but you know what makes it somewhat 01:53 uncomfortable is kind of battling 01:55 between being assertive but not seeming 01:58 angry or being passionate without 02:02 seeming emotional don't demean your life 02:06 to be uncomfortable how bright she was 02:09 shy and most others so amazed I just 02:12 need to find it be comfortable my advice 02:14 would be when in doubt make their 02:16 decisions from a place of privilege yeah 02:18 I just so often see people with 02:20 privilege make decisions from a place of 02:22 privilege that get them more privileged 02:24 I want our you to walk in that same line 02:27 set to walk in with that same confidence 02:28 as though they have every right to be 02:31 there because they do I would say take 02:33 risk bettle yourself peddle your ideas 02:35 bet on your mind you miss a hundred 02:38 percent of the shots you don't take 02:39 making history now for the next up 02:42 because sneakers- advertisement spot 2020
