Let's cherish the memories and continue to support, as every kid deserve the chance to play! 🏆🌟 #SportsMatter #10YearAnniversary 0:01 there is a crisis that sports are both 0:03 massively being defunded in a 0:04 significant way and undervalued from a 0:07 benefit perspective our biggest 0:09 challenge is a financial challenge after 0:12 Harvey the funding that we would need to 0:15 be able to keep this team together is 0:18 just really not available to us where 0:20 would I be right 0:22 now I don't know if I'll be in school 0:24 still I don't know if I'll be in jail I 0:26 don't know if I'll be dead she's such an 0:29 important figure in my life right now 0:30 and I just can't I just can't imagine 0:33 what life would be like without her we 0:35 had seen that somebody had stole their 0:37 equipment my grandir said that it wasn't 0:40 going to be the most season our 0:41 equipment was stolen and we we're trying 0:43 to get back on our feet I was wondering 0:44 if you guys would be interested in 0:45 helping I just feel like nobody really 0:48 cares about girls hockey as much by the 0:50 end of the season we'll probably be in 0:51 the red so unfortunately we're thinking 0:54 we're going to have to shut the girls 0:55 program down the Dick Sporting Goods 0:57 foundation and sports matter program 0:59 were created to inspire and enable Youth 1:02 Sports participation it's only been 10 1:04 years since the program was established 1:06 but you can trace the idea of giving 1:09 kids the chance to play back to the 1:11 company's Origins 70 years ago in the 1:14 early 60s binghamton's Little League 1:16 only had 60 boys dick stack felt that 1:19 was disgraceful so he and his local 1:21 small business friends expanded the 1:23 league to 16 teams giving 240 kids the 1:27 chance to play he had only one 1:29 stipulation 1:30 that the kids wouldn't buy their 1:32 baseball gear from his store he didn't 1:34 want anyone to think that he created the 1:36 expansion to make money Community 1:38 involvement has always been in the 1:40 company's DNA across this country we 1:43 help create places for these kids to go 1:46 where it's fun and it's 1:48 safe and we use the footprint of our 1:50 stores to go deep into our communities 1:53 so I think about our 800 plus stores 1:56 each one of them having opportunities to 1:58 connect with these local coaches and 2:00 these local leagues that need our 2:02 support and we can give them that 2:04 support through our community grant 2:06 program the sports matter program has 2:08 partnered with and supported many 2:10 programs over the past 10 years so every 2:12 kid could have the same access to play a 2:15 middle of seventh grade year I just 2:16 started realizing like all the 2:17 opportunities that har lacrosse gave me 2:19 I get three examples of perfect square 2:21 one they want us to make it into college 2:24 and like do something with our life that 2:26 kid who was counted 2:27 out has a chance to make it Out Sports 2:31 unite us as a community a culture and 2:33 Society what you put into it you get out 2:36 of it that applies to everything in life 2:38 coaches and educators are real life 2:41 Heroes they often don't have the support 2:43 they deserve the Dick Sporting Goods 2:44 Foundation is honored to play a small 2:46 part in their life-changing work at the 2:48 Dick Sporting Goods Foundation We 2:50 Believe Sports has the power to change 2:52 lives in community oh my gosh are you 2:56 kidding we are honored to commit a 2:58 100,000 3:01 to ensure that the kids of cor City can 3:04 continue to benefit for years to come 3:08 [Music] 3:13 oh we've been waiting for a break like 3:16 this man you guys don't understand 3:18 we we we've done this all this time and 3:21 um no nobody's really 3:27 [Music] 3:30 pay attention to what we're doing I'm so 3:32 thankful for you guys and what you guys 3:34 are doing sports just can't explain how 3:38 happy I am a lot of time feel like like 3:40 no one really 3:42 cares so this gester this 3:45 is this is amazing looking back over the 3:48 last 10 years of our Sports matter 3:50 program we're so proud that we've been 3:52 able to reach over 2 million 3:55 kids and it's really just the beginning 3:57 we know Sports have the power to change 3:59 life lives and we know there's a lot of 4:00 kids out there that need our help and we 4:03 are committed to do whatever it takes 4:06 through our Sports matter program to 4:08 continue to enable these kids to have 4:10 the chance to play 4:12 [Music] - advertisement spot 2024
