As all of these dogs ended up in need of rescue for a reason: Whether it be due to abandonment, terrible neglect, abuse, or otherwise – humanity has failed each and every dog long before they got to rescuers of Micetti di Brindisi. The rapidly increasing number of lives lost through euthanization is shocking: It's wrong, it's inhumane, and essentially, it's just slapping a band-aid on the much bigger – but actually very controllable – problem. But there IS a practical, humane solution we can make sure that many lives aren't lost: Rescuing and rehabilitating those who can be, as well as TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return). TNR is an effective and humane way of controlling the feral cat population by capturing them (trapping), spaying/neutering, giving a rabies vaccine (Neuter), and releasing them back to where they came from (Return). And right now, TNR is more important than ever – as we're smack-dab in the middle of “kitten season.” Micetti di Brindisi is a voice for these forgotten babies, dedicated to resolving the feline overpopulation crisis through humane TNR protocols through education and awareness, as well as offering aid to their surrounding community. But changing the way we deal with these cats and kittens a big upward battle, and trying to remove barriers that prevent spay/neuters, or minor vet care (whether it be financial, transportation, etc.) has been made even harder with developments surrounding COVID19. At Micetti di Brindisi, these deserving babies get to experience many firsts: First homes, beds, first baths, first cuddles, first treats… followed by many, many more (of course ).
