Abrasion resistant with waterproof YKK center front and pocket zippers plus drawcord adjustable hem make this vest ready for some serious alpine action. This vest will be excellent at protecting the athletes core in wet, windy and or cold weather conditions without sacrificing mobility in movement in the upper torso. Also air flow over the arms is the best way to cool the bodies core so temperature regulation while running/ briskly hiking or just being highly active is greatly improved over a jacket. This vest features our OutDry™ Extreme technology, which is the first ever waterproof and breathable fabric technology constructed with a waterproof layer on the outside. Traditional waterproof gear uses interior waterproof membranes which don't allow for air flow, and utilize water-repellent finishes that degrade over time. OutDry™ Extreme allows us to make the UTMB finishers vest a high performance insulated product also watertight by seam sealing from the outside. Polartec® Alpha® was originally developed for the U.S. Special Forces when they required a more advanced insulating material in their combat uniforms. This fabric is a new technology with active insulation that regulates core body temperatures during both dynamic and static activities.
