The narrative series Hold To Your Best Self follows six students on their senior prom night, with each episode telling the story from a different character’s point of view. In this video, Director of Photography Dustin Supencheck explains how the combination of his Canon EOS C300 Mark II camera and 30-105mm compact zoom lens provided a versatile solution to film the series from a number of different perspectives. 00:00 [Music] 00:07 so it's one night at prom told from six 00:12 different perspectives and so every 00:14 episode was a new perspective of how 00:16 that night went and so it's kind of just 00:18 you know struggles of adolescents and 00:21 what it's what it means to be graduating 00:24 and what it means to go through change 00:25 we're always trying to think of how to 00:27 like spice this up visually because it's 00:29 very much like talking type of film a 00:31 lot of different characters entering a 00:33 scene talking entering a scene talking 00:35 and so for me that's a challenge to 00:38 think like oh how can I like spice this 00:40 up and bring something a little bit new 00:42 to it each character we decided would 00:44 get a certain camera style one character 00:47 would be mainly sticks one character 00:49 would be mainly handheld one character 00:50 would get more like dolly shots and so 00:53 each character would get kind of a 00:55 different style I have worked with the 01:01 c300 Mark - a few times before and 01:04 always gotten really nice results out of 01:05 with it and it's just got a good look 01:07 coming out of it - obviously it's the 01:10 first thing that I want to give 01:11 something is to make it look but also 01:13 logistically how can we pull this off we 01:16 pretty much shot the whole project on 01:19 that 30 to 105 that was like a really 01:23 versatile lens for us because I couldn't 01:25 set up even a wide on the 30 at least a 01:29 two shot really easily all the way into 01:32 you know singles and in over the 01:35 shoulders and then everyone small being 01:37 like oh we want to show the space a 01:38 little bit more let's go to our wide 01:40 zoom and then back and even sometimes 01:42 get us indoor scene coverage as well 01:55 you - advertisement spot 2020
