Learn more about what it’s like to work at bp, and check out bp.com/uscampus for more information about our early career programs. 0:00 I typically like to get up semi early I 0:03 feel like that allows me to be more 0:04 productive it's really good for my 0:06 mental health and I like to really 0:08 detail out my goals and have something 0:10 that's directing me throughout the 0:15 day the journey to work is fun I feel 0:18 grateful to be able to carpool with one 0:19 of my graduate buddies or one of my 0:20 friends that I might be working with um 0:22 we're at the end of the day almost like 0:24 a family so I roll into the office 0:26 already in a good 0:27 mood so I'm based out of Houston 0:30 supporting our golf of Mexico operations 0:32 as a deep water drilling engineer uh 0:35 I've been in this role for 2 years now 0:37 I've been jumping around which has given 0:39 me great exposure into so many areas 0:41 within the business I started in Alaska 0:43 with nbp I was up there for about a year 0:45 and then I rolled down here uh in 2020 I 0:47 started supporting our Mad Dog Phase 2 0:50 operations um I actually got to rotate 0:52 on the rig for a year which is super 0:54 cool we work with multidisciplinary 0:57 teams every day we're interfacing with 1:00 geologists geophysicists Reservoir 1:02 Engineers production Engineers 1:04 completions Engineers to execute safe 1:06 and reliable drilling 1:08 operations within the early careers 1:10 programs responsible tasks allocated to 1:13 us so that you feel like you're learning 1:16 like you're taking stuff away now that 1:18 doesn't mean that you're not going to be 1:21 supported my colleagues are great people 1:23 come here from all walks alive as a 1:25 matter of fact we actually have business 1:27 resource groups that are set up to 1:29 really just just 1:30 reinforce everybody's background as much 1:32 as possible so for example we have a brg 1:35 for the africanamerican collective we 1:37 have one for the Latinos which is BP 1:40 energia so we're really a diverse 1:42 company that is able to integrate 1:44 everybody 1:45 well my parents are immigrants they're 1:47 from Mexico and when I was young I knew 1:50 the effects that energy had upon 1:52 civilization and communities I did an 1:54 energy project in high school that was 1:56 actually my entryway into energy as a 1:59 whole and engineering as a whole I knew 2:01 I wanted to work for BP because not only 2:03 were they providing energy to the world 2:05 but they were also choosing to do it 2:08 within sustainable safe ways investing 2:10 in communities and really just providing 2:12 a higher value that I didn't see amongst 2:14 others my goal is not only to provide 2:17 cheap and reliable efficient energy to 2:19 the world but it's also to give back to 2:21 the future of our energy sector and to 2:24 ensure that our world's energy demands 2:25 are going to continue to be met past 2:27 2050 that's my goal for for for my 2:30 career and my future 2:31 [Music]
