That's correct! In Dragon's Dogma 2, you can only change your main pawn's name during a New Game Plus (NG+) playthrough. Here's a quick summary:

  • New Game Plus (NG+): This is a post-game mode where you can replay the main story with your existing character and their enhanced abilities. You'll carry over your character's progress (level, skills, equipment) but not quest completion or story flags.  During character creation in NG+, you can rename your main pawn.
  • Existing Save: Unfortunately, there's no way to change your pawn's name in an ongoing playthrough. The Barberie only allows modifications to your character's appearance.

If you're really set on changing your pawn's name, then starting a New Game Plus might be your only option.  However, keep in mind the trade-off of replaying the main story.
