Learn how to disable the mining laser in System Shock with our step-by-step guide. Stop it from causing damage and complete your mission successfully.

System Shock is a classic first-person shooter game that has been around since the early 90s. The game is set aboard a space station, where players are tasked with fighting off rogue AI and mutants to survive. One challenge players face is the mining laser, which can be a real pain to deal with. In this article, we'll guide you through the steps needed to disable the mining laser in System Shock.

Unlock the Beta Quadrant and acquire the Science Access Key

To begin, you'll need to unlock the Beta Quadrant and acquire the Science Access Key. The Beta Quadrant is located on the second floor of the station, and you can get there by taking the elevator. Once you're there, you'll need to find the Science Access Key, which is located in a locked room. To unlock the room, you'll need to solve a puzzle that involves matching colored wires.

Get the access code from the Library

Once you have the Science Access Key, you can proceed to the Library, which is where you'll find the access code needed to disable the mining laser. The Library is located on the third floor of the station, and you can get there by taking the elevator. To get the access code, you'll need to access a computer terminal and enter a specific sequence of commands.

Visit the Gamma Quadrant and acquire Isotope X-22

With the access code in hand, it's time to head to the Gamma Quadrant to acquire Isotope X-22. The Gamma Quadrant is located on the fourth floor of the station, and you can get there by taking the elevator. Isotope X-22 is located in a storage room, but the room is guarded by mutants, so be prepared to fight your way through.

Activate the safety shield in the Reactor floor

With Isotope X-22 in hand, head to the Reactor floor, where you'll need to activate the safety shield. The Reactor floor is located on the fifth floor of the station, and you can get there by taking the elevator. Once there, you'll need to insert Isotope X-22 into the Radiation Shield Controls to activate the safety shield.

Disable the safety override in the Safety Override section

Next, head to the Safety Override section, where you'll need to disable the safety override. The Safety Override section is located on the sixth floor of the station, and you can get there by taking the elevator. To disable the safety override, enter the code you obtained from the Library into the panel and press enter.

Disable the mining laser in the Central Control Room

With the safety override disabled, it's time to disable the mining laser itself. Head to the Central Control Room, which is located on the seventh floor of the station, and you can get there by taking the elevator. Once there, locate the panel with the Laser Charging text and push the button on the left side of the panel to disable the mining laser.

Disabling the mining laser in System Shock can be a bit of a challenge, but by following these steps, you'll be able to do it with ease. Remember to always be prepared for combat, as mutants and rogue AI are always lurking around every corner. Good luck!
