There are many different types of gems in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Before A Rift in Time, all gems were pretty standard in terms of how they look and feel. That changed once fictional gems like Evergems were added to the game.
Aside from some things that are clearly not gems like Magma, there are more unique-looking gems that were added in The Storybook Vale like Star Sapphire. Despite looking like a starfish, Star Sapphire are indeed gems, and if you want to collect some, here's where you can find them.
How to Get Star Sapphire in Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Storybook Vale
Star Sapphire can be mined from rocks along the walls of Wild Woods, Teapot Falls, Fallen Fortress, and Beanstalk Marshes. You also have a chance of getting other gems like Pure Ice when you see yourself mining in these biomes. If you see a rock with crystals sticking out of it, you're guaranteed to get a gem. If you want to get more Star Sapphires, keep an eye out for the dark blue crystals sticking out of rocks.
While mining Star Sapphires, it's not a bad idea to bring a character with you who has the role of a miner, that way when a Star Sapphire comes out you'll be able to get a lot more, especially if your partner's role is level 10. There is also a shiny version of Star Sapphire, so if you want to make sure you farm some for any eventuality that may arise.
What are Star Sapphires used for?
Primarily, Star Sapphires are used for crafting items. There are two items that require Star Sapphires. The first is the basic Olympian Shard Repellent, while the second is the basic Fairy Shard Repellent. The materials needed to craft these two items are as follows:
Basic Olympian Shard Repellent
- One Star Sapphire
- One Lamp
- Five Gold Ingots
- 10 Marbles
- 500 Magic Storybooks
Basic Fairy Shard Repellent
- One Star Sapphire
- One Lamp
- Five Petrified Wood
- 10 Volcanic Rocks
- 500 Magic Storybooks
In addition to crafting, you need a Star Sapphire for one of Flynn's friendship quests, The Wolf's Company. Beyond crafting and quests, it's good to save up some Star Sapphires for future quests or if they happen to be a daily favorite item for one of the many Disney characters in the game.
