How to Unlock Kurast Undercity in D4: Vessel of Hatred
Fortunately, Kurast Undercity is part of the main expansion's questline. You will eventually get there if you have the Vessel of Hatred expansion, specifically as soon as you reach Kurast City.
Kurast is the main hub of Nahantu and also appeared as a main hub in Diablo 2. Now it is back with new dangers and wonders alike. Therefore, Kurast Underground City can only be accessed in Kurast, just like The Pit can only be accessed through Cerrigar.
However, you will need to complete the side quest related to unlocking features of Kurast Underground City. It is somewhat lengthy and should be enough to get familiar with.
Kurast Underground City Raids at End of Game Once you have completed the side quest mentioned above, you will be able to start customizing your Kurast Underground City raids with tributes and bargains. All you have to do is click on the spirit brazier or enter Kurast Underground City and set these tributes and bargains.
- Tributes grant reward benefits for raiding Kurast Underground City. These will cost you one tribute (a currency specific to Kurast Underground City).
- Bargains allow you to target specific rewards, but they will cost you crafting materials.
The Kurast Undercity is effectively a way to dump all of your surplus crafting materials into the dungeon for more rewards.
Completing Kurast Undercity
Speed is the name of the game in Kurast Undercity. You need to have a quick clearing build here, otherwise you lose the reward and pretty much the Tribute and crafting materials you spent to power up the dungeon run.
Kurast Undercity is split into three floors. On each floor, there are several Beacons (blue) that everyone will want to activate and clear so that their level reward for the Kurast Undercity run is maxed out or as high as possible (Level 4).
You get 60 seconds or more for each floor and can further increase that time by killing affected enemies (orange marker). So if I were you, I would focus on all the Beacons and leave the monsters because I often find that time-affected monsters or older affected monsters tend to be tanky and not worth the time reward.
Rather, speed in the dungeon saves you and you want to save your movement skills for running to the portals once you've run out of beacons to activate on each floor.
