Are you wondering if you should go to the Gerudo Desert or the Jabul Waters first in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom? Well here is the best answer.

Once you have completed Suthorn Ruins at the beginning of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, you will be obliged to decide which direction to go further, so that you can continue facing more rifts. To the west, you have the Gerudo Desert, while Jabul Waters are further north.

There are two differences between the two, mainly: the level of difficulty and how far out you have to travel to get to one or the other. To aid players in choosing which to head toward first, after completing the introductory area, this guide will outline some fundamental benefits of each location, including a very useful Echo that is only accessible in each zone: Desert of Gerudo or Waters of Jabul.

Jabul Waters Isn't Difficult, It's Just Distant

Emphasis: Echo Water Block

At Echoes of Wisdom, Jabul Waters is introduced to Zelda-the first Zora place she will be able to access. Among others, the River Zora and the Ocean Zora have their respective habitats in this area. Supposedly, during these past years, the coming of rifts around it has maddened the great spirit Lord Jabu-Jabu.

Compared to Gerudo Desert and Jabul Waters, Zora's domain is slightly easier, and the foes aren't that annoying. Have a nice sea cruise with a great view featuring a galleon-style ship, coupled with one of the best early game Echoes in Water Block, but there are some really annoying foes.

This basic Echo only takes one Tri Power and creates a cube of water in the air which Zelda can swim across. You will also be able to use it to fend off enemies, douse flames, and reach areas you couldn't previously get access to.

More Difficult, But the Gerudo Desert IsClose to the Suthorn Forest.

Prominence: Flying Tile Echo

If you've played Echoes of Wisdom and find yourself at that juncture in the story where a choice is to be made as to which dungeon to visit first, whether that of the Zora or of the Gerudo, you may notice that Jabul Water lies much to the north, while Gerudo Desert is almost immediately to the west. Since it is the zone along the more direct route, you may come to assume that Gerudo Desert is easier.

Gerudo Desert is, in fact, more hazardous than Jabul Waters due to the more challenging types of enemies and the effect of distortion that the sandstorm has on the map. It will, however, take you to your destination much quicker if you go there first instead; just be prepared for a bit of a challenge at the beginning of it. Following the conclusion of this, head to the next big story point in the adjacent area to Hyrule Castle: Jabul Waters.

Getting the Flying Tile Echo is just another reason to brave the desert and show up early in the Gerudo Desert. You can use the Flying Tile - like with the Water Block Echo - to access would be highly challenging, or literally impossible, to reach areas. In order to send the Flying Tile launching off in the direction you were facing when you summoned it, all you need to do is jump on top of it.

Which one do you suppose is better to visit first: Jabul Waters or Gerudo Desert?

Which of the two starting areas, Gerudo Desert or Jabul Waters, to start with in Echoes of Wisdom depends on how easy or hard the player wants it at the very beginning of the game. The distance between these two areas is almost irrelevant due to the quick travel game mechanic but still accounts for that factor in case a player wants to finish Echoes of Wisdom as fast as possible.

Save yourself some time and head west to Gerudo Desert first, if you don't mind battling tougher monsters without as many Heart Containers.

It's easier to head north to Jabul Waters first, then Fast Traveling back to the entrance once you have acquired a couple more Echoes and Heart Containers, though this takes longer than the other method.
