How To Get Silenced Weapons in Sniper Elite 5

Sniper Elite 5 might be all about silent kills, but for that silenced weapon is pretty important. There isn't a way how to unlock silenced weapons permanently. Sometimes they just pop up in certain missions. You can also put a suppressor on your rifle, and that will seriously dampen the noise.

For added silence, utilize subsaonic ammunition. These particular bullets aren't as loud as regular ones, and provide added layers of stealth in silent gameplay.

How To Get Silenced Weapons?

These silenced weapons, which Sniper Elite 5 refers to as "Found Weapons," have important roles in stealth gameplay. In addition, the silenced weapons can't be unlocked but have to be found in some missions.

Look for silenced weapons near fallen opponents or other places that are well guarded and on patrol duty. Some strong armories, some hideouts of snipers scattered on the map, can be worthy places to find these weapons.

Remember that the silenced weapons are mission-specific and you cannot carry them into the next missions. They become useless when their ammunition runs out in which case you have to discard them. To get your hands free, just throw them on the ground. Switching or scrolling through your weapons will dispose of a silenced weapon as well.

The major positive side of silenced weapons is that they are available at an early stage in the game. Later on, you'll be able to find silencers and suppressors for your current weapons, to enhance your sneakiness even more.

How To Unlock Silencer/Suppressor?

Head to the workbench in the middle of the armory. Through this workbench, you'll be able to unlock the suppressor along with other upgrades of your weapon.

Now launch your weapon customization menu and find the suppressor. Attach the suppressor to your weapon to make it silenced in Sniper Elite 5.

Tip: The workbench can be used to attach different attachments to your weapons, including muzzle attachments and variants in ammunition type.

How To Unlock Subsonic Ammo?

To make things even more sneaky, Sniper Elite 5 has subsonic ammunition. This special ammo greatly reduces the noise associated with gunfire and is super useful while trying to find a silencer attachment. Unlike silencers, subsonic ammo can be earned far earlier in the game.

Initially, subsonic ammunition could only be scavenged from killed enemies. However, following the completion of the mission entitled Factory, you will be able to unlock it permanently to your inventory.

Press L1 on PlayStation or LB on Xbox to equip subsonic ammunition. R1 toggles between types of suppressed ammunition available in the mission. 

By learning how to obtain and operate silenced weapons, you will have a distinct advantage in Sniper Elite 5, able to conduct missions in a covert manner with precision and efficiency.
