The world of Hogwarts Legacy is incredibly immersive, where every nook and corner of Hogwarts Castle is alive, including the surrounding wizarding realm. This is especially true in the popular Room of Requirement, a place that constantly changes to accommodate the needs of its occupants. Among such ever-changing confines is a Golden Snitch serenely flying through the air.

The Golden Snitch is really something mythological and elusive in the wizarding world; it's the key to victory in one of the most popular sports among wizards, Quidditch. Players cannot play Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy, but its appearance in the Room of Requirement has engendered curiosity for many players. That begs the question: what that's for and if this elusive prize is able to be captured.

How to find the Hogwarts Legacy Room of Requirement Golden Snitch

You will, upon making your way through the trash and general detritus of the Room of Requirement for the first time, catch a glimpse of a flying Golden Snitch. It will whizz past you in a fleeting instant, so it can easily leave your character in doubt if this was part of his imagination. No, you did not hallucinate-you actually saw it: a Golden Snitch.

You will hear and see it behind some wooden planks in the direction that the Snitch went into. Your character comments on having found the Golden Snitch, throwing up an interesting question: is this an immersion detail to enhance the magical experience or a hint that capturing the Snitch is a hidden objective, allowing you to live your Seeker dream?

Can the Golden Snitch be retrieved in the Room of Requirement?

Unfortunately, it's not a collectible, but a red herring-the best theory is that its inclusion is to send players in the direction of the loot, which is hidden nearby. Considering how much desire was placed upon it and under the circumstances highly ambiguous, the Golden Snitch has mostly just served to confuse players, with many under the impression they should try catching the thing instead of searching the surrounding area for treasure.

It's a pity the Golden Snitch can't be caught, but it's still possible to get the good stuff it's trying to lead you to. The area directly around where the Snitch is flying, however, is at first closed off to you. To get to the pile of chests directly underneath it, you'll have to make use of a convenient spell to bring them to you.

Room of Requirement Golden Snitch chest

You will open the chest containing the Golden Snitch in the Room of Requirement by casting some spells and solving a few puzzles. Levioso and Accio on the block at the center of the room will remove it. Pull the Golden Snitch chest toward you using "Accio", then cast it again on the chest from the hidden room to your right to draw it toward the barrier. You will be able to open it and get a random piece of gear out once it is in position.

Here's a step-by-step breakdown:

Free the Way: Cast "Levioso" and "Accio" on the block behind the first barricade-to the left of the painting-and pull it as far left as possible.

Get the Stacked Chests: With the path clear, cast "Accio" on the stacked chests back at the rear of the barricaded room and draw them toward you until they are against the barricade.

Get into Hidden Room: Move right from the painting and shift the box that covers the hole. Duck in the secret room.

Pull Chests Toward You: Inside the room, forward to the second blockade, cast "Accio" on the stacked chests again, pulling them toward you until you can interact with them.

Open the Chest: Interact with the chest to get a random piece of gear.

The in-game sounds serve as a good indication, though. A man in the nearby painting jokes, mentioning summoning the Golden Snitch, which serves as the key hint. Without such a hint, you might have struggled with solving the puzzle, trying some ineffective ways like stacking up boxes or attempting to jump over the barricade.

Although it is somewhat a disappointment not being able to obtain the Golden Snitch itself, the challenge all in all is worth trying with the puzzle and random gear reward that comes afterwards. More than solving a simple puzzle, the loot after this puzzle can mean more of how good you are at problem-solving and your ability to get through the intricate world of Hogwarts Legacy.
