How To Save Everyone From The Burning Building in Baldur's Gate 3

" Dungeons & Dragons, the legendary tabletop RPG that spawned Baldur's Gate 3, is rife with such or near-death encounters, often staged in dangerous locations. One of the all-time classic scenarios involves combat and skill checks inside a burning building, heightened by a ticking clock and the constant threat of collapse. It is these tense moments that players remember long after the fact.

Baldur's Gate 3 replicates this feeling as it drops a dramatic situation: a burning building with two people inside. In such a strict time limit, the player has to save the potential victims without losing the trapped souls or their own party. This precarious position calls for a perfectly thought-out plan for treading through such danger and coming out victorious.

Saving Counsellor Florrick

"Use Misty Step to reach Counsellor Florrick. Speak with her here, then she will start the rescue. To actually make good your escape, though, you'll have to smash up the Shatter Wine Barrel. Note that this barrel is vulnerable only to magic and can't be smashed by any physical attacks. Target the barrel from a safe distance with any party member who has spells.".

" First, smash the wooden door blocking Benryn's path. Then, enter Turn-Based Mode and speak with him. Wait for him to exit, then enter the building west of the main fountain and use the stairs. You'll find Mirileth's body on the second floor. The door next to her leads to Benryn, who's behind a breakable wooden door.".

Before breaking the door, note that it will cause a fire and damage anyone who is nearby. However, Benryn is safe until the door is destroyed, so you can plan carefully. Use spells or melee attacks to break the door. Once it's broken, switch to Turn-Based Mode. Jump over the rubble to reach Benryn, and use your strongest character to lift the beam off of him. Either a Strength or an Investigation check will have to be passed. Liberated, Benryn walks towards Mirileth's corpse. You should talk to him to further progress in the "Rescue the Trapped Man" quest.

Remember to remove the party members from the door before you break it down to avoid the explosion that is about to happen. Also, be aware that your best character should be in readiness to lift the beam on top of Benryn after he has been freed. This rescue mission will need a strong Strength or an Investigation check to be successful.

All Valuable Items In Waukeen's Rest

This area has very little loot. Only a handful of items of worth are to be found here.

The Joltshooter / The Sparky Points / The Spellsparkler

"As a reward for saving Counsellor Florrick from the burning building, the players can choose one of these three weapons. Speak to Florrick outside the building to collect your reward."

Hamarhraft

"The Hamarhraft, a magical Maul, is located in a gilded chest on the top floor of the building. After the quest you just have to wait for the flames to die down then explore. You can do this by taking a Long Rest after you've saved Benryn and Florrick. If you take a rest before saving them both quests will be failed.

Faded Drow Leather Armor

"On the body of a dead Drow Raider in the central courtyard, beside the building which holds the trapped Benryn."

Svartlebee's Woundseeker

"The Svartlebee's Woundseeker is only available if you kill Gauntlet Yeva of the Flaming Fists, who is trying to break down the door to Counsellor Florrick. However, if you kill her, every single nearby NPC turns hostile. It is not possible to steal this item."
