Aldi Commercial Making Sustainability Affordable Spot


VIDEO ALDI Making Sustainability Affordable TV commercial 2024 • ALDI continues to raise the bar on sustainability without raising prices for you, our shoppers. To start, ALDI is proud to announce that it’s become the first major U.S. retailer to eliminate plastic shopping bags from its more than 2,300 stores. This move will save more than 4,400 tons of plastic (nearly nine million pounds) from circulation each year. In addition, ALDI announced its goal to transition to natural refrigerants across all U.S. stores by 2035. ALDI already uses environmentally friendly refrigerants in more than 600 stores, which has helped ALDI save nearly 60% of potential carbon emissions each year. Actions like these have helped earn ALDI the recognition of being a top sustainable grocer in 2023. “As one of America’s fastest-growing retailers, we take our responsibility to lead the industry in sustainability seriously, so our customers don’t have to choose between shopping responsibly and saving money,” said Jason Hart, CEO, ALDI. “Eliminating plastic shopping bags from our stores and transitioning to environmentally friendly refrigerant systems not only help us protect the environment, but they also help reduce costs which we then pass on to our customers. These decisions help our customers feel good about shopping at ALDI and our employees feel proud to work here.” In this video, “Making Sustainability Affordable,” ALDI sustainability directors detail the latest initiatives, achievements, and goals, from working toward reducing our carbon footprint by investing in renewable energy, natural refrigerants, and carbon-friendly heating solutions in ALDI stores, toward becoming the most sustainable grocery store in the country. ALDI is committed to sending zero waste to landfills and reducing food waste by expanding store participation in recycling and food donation programs.
