Block 2 will allow you to enter a more serious part of the program. What makes this more serious, is that Chris will be introducing additional speeds and intensities – to heighten your performance over the next two weeks. High intensity and interval work will be coming back into this block and you’ll see a lot of progression from this. You’re also going to be introduced to lactate threshold training. Lactate threshold training is what gives you your maximum sustainable pace. This is a very important stimulus for you to develop and know precisely where it is by feel. What makes this next two weeks truly special, is that it ends with a Mile for Time. This is the race to truth. You against the clock. Maximum effort and maximum performance. By using his extensive athlete training experience, Chris will take your finishing time and will roll this into an athlete centred model. This takes your result as an athlete and rolls it into the overall training program, which is the way to get your personal best in a 10k.
