鑢目とは、刀身を柄から抜けにくくするため、茎に施す滑り止め模様のこと。MRG-B2000GA では、この仕上げをバンドの中駒に採用。名門「月山」が受け継ぐ化粧鑢目を、月山氏が一つ一つ手彫りで刻み、日本刀の世界観を表現しました。また、月山一門の座右の銘「鍛刀一筋」と、「百錬精鐡」に由来する「鍛」と「錬」の文字を銘切り。ハンドメイドによる一点ごとの存在感を宿す外観に仕上げています。
ベゼルは、新開発の再結晶化ハイブリッドチタンを使用することにより、月山刀の特徴である「綾杉肌」のイメージを表現しました。再結晶化ハイブリッドチタンは64 チタンと純チタンを何層も重ねて一体化したもので、再結晶化すると素材の違いが見えるようになるという特徴を持つ素材です。
この特徴を活かし、月山氏監修のもと、「綾杉肌」と呼ばれる独特な鍛え肌（刀の鍛錬によって生み出される鋼の層の模様。各流派によりさまざまな模様がある）の模様を作り上げました。ベゼル、バンド、裏蓋には、名刀の色合いとされる青味を帯びた鉄色を表現するため、新開発のブルーグレーのAIP コーティングを施しています。ケースは再結晶化チタンに深層硬化処理を施し、TICコーティングで仕上げました。ケース側面10 時位置のプレートには、“G-SHOCK”“ 40TH”の文字を刻印しています。
また、タフソーラーや、Bluetooth® によるスマートフォンリンク、標準電波に対応した時刻修正システムなど、独自のテクノロジーを駆使した先進の実用機能も数多く搭載。随所に日本が誇る伝統技法と先進技術を駆使し、名刀の存在感を纏った特別仕様のMR-G です。
