There are a couple of things that should be a regular habit for every espresso machine owner, and one of those is purging the group head. By doing so before and after every use will make sure that your machine is clean and functioning properly, not only saving you time and money in the future, but also ensuring that you are achieving rich, full-flavour coffee every time.
Directions: 1. Insert the filter basket you intend to use for your shot into the portafilter then insert and lock the portafilter into the group head. 2. Run a short flow of water through the group head by pressing the ‘1-cup’ button. 3. Allow the water to flow for 5-seconds then press the ‘1-cup’ button again to stop the flow of water. This will purge any ground coffee residue from the group head after an extraction but also help stablise the water temperature prior to extraction.
