You’ve mastered the fundamentals of latte art and have perfected the basic pour methods, now let’s get creative the Tulip and the Rosetta are fun, beautiful designs that you often see used by professional baristas at your local coffee shop, and now, with our step-by-step guide, you can make them from the comfort of your own home.
Directions for ‘The Tulip’ (00:06):
1. Start with the jug up high and the cup tilted to create a larger surface area of the espresso.
2. Pour a thin, constant stream of microfoam milk to pierce the centre of the crema.
3. As the cup starts to fill, tilt the cup more upright so as not to spill your delicious coffee.
4. Then bring the tip of the jug close to the surface of the milk, almost touching it.
5. A white dot will begin to appear. Pause, then pour again very close to the surface. Repeat 2-3 times to create arcs.
6. Pull through the arcs revealing the tulip pattern and lift the jug to finish.
Directions for ‘The Rosetta’ (00:46):
1. Start with the jug up high and the cup tilted to create a larger surface area of the espresso.
2. Pour a thin, constant stream of microfoam milk to pierce the centre of the crema.
3. As the cup starts to fill, tilt the cup more upright so as not to spill your delicious coffee.
4. Then bring the tip of the jug close to the surface of the milk, almost touching it.
5. At this point, a white dot will start to appear. Keep steadily pouring, making the dot larger with slight movements from side to side to create leaves, then pour through the leaves to reveal the pattern, and lift the jug to finish.
