Not for the recognition, but to write a new future for her community. #allfor1 #af1 00:00 I am an a mystery CFL and I'm 29 years 00:05 old and I started to Bronx Book Festival 00:07 I have been thinking about starting the 00:11 Book Festival since 2012 when I attended 00:13 my first Festival but I put it off for a 00:15 bunch of years thinking someone else 00:17 will create it or I'll do it later 00:19 last year in 2017 on Veterans Day I had 00:23 my first meeting next thing you know 00:25 Maine 2018 we had our first festival at 00:27 Fordham Plaza the two things that are 00:30 important to me is diversity and 00:31 literacy and both of those things 00:33 connect I think it's important for 00:35 people to see representation and 00:37 publishing and I think it's important 00:38 for my community to see themselves in 00:40 books and to also know that they can 00:42 work in book publishing that they can 00:43 write books that they can be 00:45 illustrators that they can make money 00:47 this way they don't have to become a 00:48 doctor or a lawyer 00:49 I wore Air Force Ones all through high 00:52 school my mom literally had to buy me 00:55 two or three pairs a year because they 00:57 would crease and I would tell her 00:58 they're creasing so I'm gonna make this 01:01 pair of my Jim pair 01:03 [Music] - advertisement spot 2018
