Discover more: https://www.dior.com/en_int/fashion/n... #DiorStoneIsland 0:01 The collaboration between Kim and Stone Island, 0:04 I think really came out of Kim being a fan. 0:06 I've worn it since I could afford it. 0:08 It was quite rare to find in England. 0:10 When I was growing up there was only two stores 0:12 that sold it and it would always sell out. 0:14 Stone was founded in ’82, 0:16 we focused on those early years. 0:18 We went through their archive. 0:19 We have all the collections since 1982. 0:24 We identified several pieces 0:26 from the Osti era with a lot of character. 0:28 These are pieces that are 0:29 almost impossible to find nowadays. 0:31 Massimo Osti, the founder, 0:34 always explored the workwear universe 0:36 to reinterpret the icons of the menswear wardrobe, 0:39 such as the trench, the field jacket, the bomber. 0:43 There's so much work put into each piece. 0:45 It looks very simple, 0:46 but I love it when you go in the store 0:47 and it's just the gradient of color. 0:49 And so I wanted it to just be, like, color blocked. 0:52 Dior celebrated the color palette 0:54 through shades that can only be achieved 0:58 using garment dyeing techniques. 1:00 Garment dyeing involves dyeing a piece after assembly. 1:03 It is dyed in a bath. 1:05 It’s a question of chemistry, it’s their identity. 1:07 Each element, depending on its composition, 1:10 reacts differently with the pigments and the color. 1:12 Silk will absorb the color 1:14 much more than cotton, for example. 1:17 There’s almost a watercolory, 1:18 aquarelle feeling to all of these colors. 1:23 Because really the premise of this collection is about 1:26 garment dye, all of the embroideries 1:28 are garment dyed as well, 1:29 which is something we’ve never done before. 1:32 This embroidery was dyed on the panel. 1:34 All the ribbons were assembled by hand 1:37 and then we applied 1:38 the small stones, chains and pearls. 1:41 It highlights the garment dye in the sense that 1:43 we have a cotton base with the silk ribbons. 1:46 We have very luxurious embroideries 1:48 on very strong pieces. 1:53 The piece that best defines this collaboration is the coat. 1:57 It has a double-fold construction 1:59 that Monsieur Dior designed himself. 2:01 A double buttonhole, which allows the garment 2:03 to be opened and to create extra volume. 2:06 We also used it on the cuffs. 2:09 We’re bringing together the technical expertise 2:12 from the North of Italy 2:13 with the beautiful handcraft of Dior, 2:16 which is this perfect meeting of Kim’s style.
