VIDEO Autotrader What’s New With the 2019 Porsche Macan TV commercial 2018 • Autotrader recently flew to Edinburgh, Scotland to check out the refreshed 2019 Porsche Macan. Our thoughts on the vehicle's performance will come at a later date, but for now, let's take a look at exactly what changes were made to the Macan for 2019. Up front, the Macan receives a new headlight design, now with standard LEDs. The air dams underneath the headlights have also been widened a bit, serving to give the vehicle a slightly more aggressive demeanor. Finally, optional aluminum accents are now available for the base trim on both the front and rear bumpers. Speaking of the rear, the hind quarters of the vehicle are home to what will surely be the easiest way to tell a 2019 Macan from previous model years, as the vehicle's rear hatch has been made to incorporate a wrap-around rear LED taillight design, similar to what you'll find on a new Cayenne or Panamera. To round out the exterior changes, a few new wheel designs are available, as are four new colors -- Miami Blue, Chalk, Dolomite Silver Metallic and Mamba Green Metallic. As for the inside, by far the most notable change is the Macan's adoption of a new 10.9-in infotainment screen running the latest version of the Porsche Communication Management system, also known as PCM. The new screen replaces a 7.0-in unit, its newfound width forcing the relocation of the center air vents from either side of the screen to just below it, which was previously occupied by a CD player and a few memory card slots, all of which goes away. The latest PCM software allows for added configurability of icons and display menus. The system now comes standard with navigation and offers optional Apple CarPlay compatibility, but forgoes Android Auto. Newly optional on the Macan is Porsche's GT Sport steering wheel, a design similar to what you'll find on the 911. On models equipped with the optional Sport Chrono package, the GT Sport steering wheel features a wheel for selecting drive modes along with a what's referred to as the Sport Response button. When pressed, it gives a 20-second burst with the vehicle's engine, transmission, chassis and exhaust tuned to their sportiest available settings. Macans equipped with the Sport Chrono package are easily identifiable by the clock mounted atop the dashboard above the center stack. And that about sums up the major changes coming to the Macan for 2019.
