Looking to use your Xbox One controller with your new Series X console? Our step-by-step guide will show you how to easily get set up and start gaming.

Video games have come a long way over the years, and with the release of the Xbox Series X, gaming has become even more immersive. One of the key components to this experience is the controller. With the new Xbox Series X, many gamers are wondering if their old Xbox One controllers are still compatible. The good news is that they are! In this blog post, we'll walk you through how to use your Xbox One controller on your Series X.

Identifying the controller

Before we get started, let’s go over the physical appearance of the controller. The Xbox One controller and the Series X controller look very similar, with only a few minor differences. The Series X controller has a dedicated share button and a more textured grip. Additionally, the Xbox button on the Series X controller is slightly different, with a more streamlined design.

Connecting the controller

There are two main ways to connect your Xbox One controller to your Series X - wired and wireless.

The easiest way to connect your controller to your Series X is to use a USB cable. Simply plug the USB cable into the controller and the console, and you're good to go. Alternatively, you can use an Xbox One Play and Charge Kit, which includes a rechargeable battery pack that you can plug into the controller and then plug into the console.

To connect your Xbox One controller wirelessly to your Series X, you have two options. The first is to use Bluetooth. Simply turn on your controller by pressing the Xbox button, and then press and hold the Connect button on the controller until the Xbox button starts flashing. Then, go to your Series X settings and select Devices & Accessories, then select Add Bluetooth or other device, and select Xbox Wireless Controller.

The second option is to sync the controller to the console using the sync button. To do this, press the sync button on your console (located on the front of the console, to the left of the power button) until it starts flashing. Then, press the sync button on the controller (located on the top of the controller, near the left bumper button) until the Xbox button on the controller starts flashing. Once the Xbox button stops flashing, your controller is synced to your console.

Setting up the controller

Once your controller is connected to your Series X, it's time to set it up. The first thing you should do is update the firmware on your controller. This will ensure that your controller is up to date and running smoothly. To update the firmware, go to your Series X settings, select Devices & Accessories, then select Xbox Wireless Controller, and select Device Info. From there, you can check for updates and download them if necessary.

The Xbox Series X has a number of customization options for your controller. You can map buttons, adjust trigger sensitivity, and even customize vibration settings. To access these settings, go to the Series X settings, select Devices & Accessories, then select Xbox Wireless Controller, and select Configure.

Using the controller

Now that your controller is set up, it's time to start using it. The Xbox One controller works just like it did on the Xbox One, so navigating the home screen and launching games should be a breeze.

During gameplay, you can use the controller for basic and advanced controls. You can also use the controller to perform advanced maneuvers and tricks, such as flipping and spinning your character in the air.

Using your Xbox One controller on your Series X is easy and straightforward. Whether you prefer a wired or wireless connection, you can enjoy all of your favorite games on the new console with your trusty old controller. Don't forget to customize your settings to make the most out of your gaming experience. Happy gaming!
