Where to Find the Best Horses in Breath Of The Wild

With the open world of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, there's much ground players will be able to cover. Even with the fast travel between towers and shrines in Breath of the Wild, first-time visits to new locations will have Link needing to walk there. Of course, you could always ride Link there-if you have caught yourself a horse.

You can go a lot further on horseback, and these trusty steeds will keep to the well-traveled path with little encouragement from you. Still, players are going to want to splurge on the best horses they can find for their trek across Hyrule.

Best Wild Horses in Breath of the Wild

4-star and 5-star Horses

Most places in Breath of the Wild have wild horses. Worst-numbered wild horses are always spotted and three-starred or below; horses that are always solid color are always better stats, but very few of them are more than one 4-star stat. You should always try north of Hyrule Ridge if you want to make sure the stats are superior.

Located between Serene Stable and Maag No'rah Shrine, near the cliff known as Tanagar Canyon. Here you can find 5-star horses to sprint for stamina. All horses will have a different set of statistics. For instance, a horse intended to be fast will never have 5-star stamina or strength. Hyrule Ridge's wild horses can be categorized as follows:

Invest in Ancient Bridle and Saddle in order to give your horse a two-star stamina boost. This is downloadable content in Champions' Ballad. You may also call your horse into your side with the down arrow on the directional pad. Please be informed that there are areas in which the horse cannot be summoned.

The Giant Horse

"Ganondorf's" Horse

One of three unique horses in Breath of the Wild, the Giant Horse is one that is not quite as fast but is cool nonetheless. The Giant Horse is a huge black horse with an orange mane, which its name would imply. It no doubt reminds you of a certain persona. Despite its "dark" look, the Giant Horse is just as gentle as any other horse. Of all the horses in Breath of the Wild, though, he is probably the most difficult to tame. To control him, Link will want slightly more than two rings of stamina.

Showing Straia the giant horse is a requirement to complete the "Hunt for the Giant Horse" side quest. You'll find Straia in Harfin Valley at the Mounted Archery Camp south of the Lake Tower.

From here, head southwest of the Owa Daim Shrine to the Taobab Grassland, where the Giant Horse roams. The best way to tame it with the other horses around is to "land" on its back with the paraglider from afar, seeing as it won't spook the others. From here, once you have calmed it you are able to take it to the nearest stable to register it. In Breath of the Wild, the Highland Stable is one of the closest stables to the Giant Horse.

Unlike other horses, the Giant Horse doesn't have stamina, so mashing the A button does nothing to make him run. As much as you might love him, you can't change his mane. He also can't use the Ancient Horse Gear. In return, though, his 5-star Strength will let him one-shot all minor monsters and critters with a single barrel roll.
