Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is a graphically intensive game that will have your hardware sweating at all times, especially when pitted against hordes of enemies in heated combat. If you find yourself running at low frame rates or stuttering, know that you can definitely improve the performance significantly by tweaking some of your in-game settings without sacrificing too much graphical fidelity.

Optimized Settings For Best FPS In WH 40K: Space Marine 2

These have been optimized on a particular setup. My setup is an RTX 3080Ti with i7 and 32GB RAM on a laptop. Results may, therefore, be slightly different from one another with different hardware configurations. General Settings

Recommendation: Use Fullscreen to enjoy flawless gaming performance.

Tip: Try playing around with resolutions. This 2560x1440p to 1920x1080p makes a huge difference in keeping things stable and running at a smooth framerate.

Render Resolution: Performance

Recommendation: Performance is a good mix of visual quality and smooth framerates.

Tip: If you want the absolute best performance, you should try using Ultra Performance. On the other side of the coin, Balanced has slightly better visuals without much hit to framerates.

Resolution Upscaling: DLSS

Recommendation: DLSS does a good job of upping performance without notably sacrificing image quality.

Tip: Some find FSR works better, so always try both DLSS and FSR to see which one will work better on your system.

V-Sync: Off

Recommendation: V-Sync off reduces input lag and may also grant some framerate.

Motion Blur: Default

Recommendation: Leave Motion Blur at default. It has a very limited performance cost, so adjust as preferred.

FPS Limit: 60 (By Preference)

Recommendation: Cap the FPS at 60 or at your monitor's refresh rate.

Tip: If you can't hold 60 FPS easily, then capping the framerate will make the game smoother.

Quality Settings

Texture Filtering: High

Recommendation: Keep it on "High" for great visual quality without any cost in performance.

Tip: If your system allows it, then "Ultra" gives more detailed textures.

Texture Resolution: Ultra

Recommendation: Choose "Ultra" in order to get the best possible view.

Tip: If this hurts performance, try "High" or "Medium."

Shadows: Medium

Recommendation: Shadows set to "Medium" tend to see a 6-8 FPS increase.

Tip: For even greater increases in framerates, one could even go lower on the shadows scale, at the cost of visible quality, of course.

Screen Space: Off for Both Options

Recommendation: Turning off both of these Screen Space options greatly improves performance.

Tip: While this provides a nice look, disabling them seriously helps framerates.

Volumetrics: Medium

Recommendation: "Medium" gives a balanced mix of visuals and performance.

Hint: Turning this down may yield higher FPS, but it might not look quite as dramatically lit.

Effects: High

Recommendation: Leave "High" to fully experience Warhammer in all its glory, as the action can get quite hot.

Hint: In case of performance problems, try putting effects to "Medium."

Details: High

Recommendation: "High" turns on advanced environments.

Hint: The difference between "High" and "Medium" is barely noticeable, so it is up to your needs as far as your framerate goes.

Cloth Simulation: Medium

Recommendation: "Medium" offers a decent trade between graphics and performance.

Tip: Setting this lower will contribute to smoother framerates in heavier action moments.

With careful consideration for changes to all these options and attention to the other provided hints, you can go a long way in optimizing Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 for much-improved performance and true-to-form game playing.
