How to beat the Awakened Custodian in WoW The War Within

Awakened Custodian is without a doubt one of the most challenging pet battle trainers in The War Within. But with the right strategy and team composition, it's definitely possible to take down such a formidable foe. Today's guide will center on top pet picks and tips on how to find this Awakened Custodian.

How to win the Awakened Custodian Pet Battle in WoW: The War Within

The Awakened Custodian at level 25 Mechanical is one of the bosses from The War Within. In order to fight this boss, one will have to complete the introductory quests of Isle of Dorn and then have a team of level 25 pets.

One can find the Awakened Custodian above the city of Dornogal near the waterfall. To engage in battle, one will have to choose the NPC but should not hurry into battle without some planning; the Awakened Custodian can inflict serious damage.

Recommended team members are Unborn Val'kyr, Zandalari Kneebiter, and Zandalari Anklerender. In general this is a really strong stacking damage, tanky team.

The Death Knight pet, Unborn Val'kyr, has solid abilities in Shadow Slash, Curse of Doom, and Haunt. Shadow Slash is a straight forward strong hit, whereas the Curse of Doom applies the stacking damage over time. Use Haunt when possible for additional damage and healing reduction to the targets.

Those two Beast pets, Zandalari Kneebiter and the Zandalari Anklernder, will give you not only tankiness but the ability to conduct a strong offense against one or more enemies. Hunting Party is a great AoE attack, Black Claw is a powerful single target attack; Leap is excellent to either move the pet or simply avoid an attack.

Just focus on stacking damage against the Awakened Custodian with attacks like Black Claw and Hunting Party. Be prepared for potential threats from the Mechanical attacks of the Awakened Custodian and bring battle pet bandages just in case.

Here is one way that you might defeat the Awakened Custodian:

Send in your Unborn Val'kyr and start by using Curse of Doom to apply some stacking damage.

Once Unborn Val'kyr goes down, bring in Zandalari Kneebiter and use Black Claw then Hunting Party until the little dino is knocked out. At this point, there should be a fairly nice stack of damage on the Awakened Custodian, with the Curse of Doom kicking in around this time.

Finally, bring in Zandalari Anklerender. Use Black Claw again, followed by Hunting Party twice in a row. This will kill the opponent and you will win the fight.

Using two Beasts can sometimes be a little risky in case an opponent uses boosted Mechanical damage against them. However, the Zandalari dinosaurs from Pandaria are among the tankiest critters of the category. The combination of Hunting Party and Black Claw makes them priceless.

Other battle pets you can use with similar abilities include Ikky and the quest reward Kaliri from the Spires of Arak in Draenor. Elemental pets, such as Lil' Ragnaros from the in-game shop, also possess a very large type advantage over the Awakened Custodian.

With whatever pet team set-up you decide to run with, make sure to focus on damage and pay close attention to the Awakened Custodian attacks. You'll find, however, you should be able to overcome this daunting foe with just a smidge of careful planning and a little finesse.
