How to complete Trial No. 5 in Zenless Zone Zero

The rewards for trials within Zenless Zone Zero are rather hefty, which is reflected in the difficulty of the trials themselves. Trial No. Five indeed needs a lot of progression and tactical build-up before it can be tried. You're going to want to finish at least Chapter Two to take this trial down and unlock the Shiyu Defense and core passive upgrades. Completion of Trial No. 5 in ZZZ

Trial No. 5 in Zenless Zone Zero involves completing five certain tasks:

Completion of "Old Capital Metro—Edge" in Hollow Zero once.

Completion of Floor 3 of the Shiyu Defense.

Upgrading one Agent's Core Passive to level two.

Upgrading three W-Engines up to level 30.

Three Agents upgraded to level 30.

1) Complete "Old Capital Metro—Edge" in Hollow Zero once

By the time you reach Trial No. 5, you should have already unlocked Hollow Zero and completed the Qualification Assessments. The Old Capital Metro is the very first zone after the Qualification Assessments, and "Edge" is the very first stage within this area.

Your character needs to be at least level 25 and possess Agents with the attributes of Ice and Ether in order to defeat "Edge." Once you defeat this stage, you can proceed to the next stage, which is called "Frontline."

2) Defeat Floor 3 of Shiyu Defense

Shiyu Defense unlocks in Chapter Two: A Call from the Hollow's Heart. Following the event with Roland and finishing Floor One, you will have story progression and commissions that give you experience to rank up and unlock more floors. Once you clear Floor Three for the first time, this task will be complete, and you will be able to claim free Agent Soukaku from the Events tab.

3) Upgrade one Agent's Core Passive two times

During the Mechanical Love commission in Chapter Two, at around Inter-Knot level 23-24, you'll gain access to Expert Challenges at the HIA. These will reward you with some essential materials needed for upgrading your Agent's core skills. For the next challenge step, you will be required to upgrade two core passives for one Agent.

Skill section of any of your Agents to view core passives and materials needed to upgrade. Collect the upgrade materials, and use them to upgrade two core passives for one of your selected Agents.

4) Upgrade three W-Engines to level 30

Complete the W-Engine Modification Combat Simulation found within the Training section of the Compendium to upgrade three W-Engines to level 30.

Acquire W-Engine Power Supplies, W-Engine Batteries, and W-Engine Energy Modules by completing Basic Upgrades Material Combat Simulation once for each one separately. Select the test which would bring appropriate components - either Attack, Stun, Anomaly, Support, or Defense.

5) Upgrade three Agents to level 30

Gather ascension materials by participating in Agent Promotion Combat Simulation under Training on Compendium. After gathering enough materials, upgrade three Agents to level 30.

Aside from materials for ascension, Investigator Logs are required to level Agents. Obtain the Investigator Logs through Basic Upgrades Material Combat Simulation.

Claim your individual rewards and the overall rewards for completing Trial No. Five: 100 Polychrome, one Master Tape, one Slice of Time-a Support W-Engine, 30,000 Denny.
