How To Unlock The False Son in Risk Of Rain 2

Risk of Rain 2: Seekers of the Storm added two more survivors to the playable cast, bringing the total number of stock playable characters in the game to 17, not counting its similarly hidden class, Heretic. One of these is the False Son, a formidable melee fighter with some devastating laser attacks. Unlike agile Chef, the False Son is much slower but provides great versatility when it comes to close-range and long-range combat.

While this may appear to be rather simple, it can be much more difficult in practice.

How To Unlock The False Son In ROR 2

In order to unlock the False Son, the player must defeat him while possessing a Halcyon Seed. This requires luck and skill in making one's way to the boss arena with a Halcyon Seed.

Green portals, summoned through the siphoning of cash via Halcyon Shrines, will take players to the Prime Meridian to fight against the False Son. The longer money siphons through a Halcyon Shrine, the better the rewards. Early cancellation for smaller rewards is a possibility since it generates portals much quicker.

To obtain a Halcyon Seed, activate an Altar of Gold for a gold portal or rely on luck to find the right dream portal in the Newt Bazaar. In the Gilded Coast, defeat Aurelionite by activating all seven pillars to strip its shield and unleash your full force

How To Beat The False Son In ROR 2

The False Son is a very challenging boss, sometimes even more dangerous than Mithrix. His melee attacks and splinter shots are moderately easy to manage, but his laser beam is like that of the Stone Titan, capable of causing extreme damage if dodged incorrectly. Worse yet, in the third phase, the False Son disables all player abilities.

Fortunately, there are interactive Geode pillars in the arena that collapse when turned on, creating a shielding field that will protect both you and the other allies nearby. This shield may save your life during his most deadly attacks. More crucially, all your lost abilities are returned once you stand in these fields.

General Tips

Send drones ahead of time into Prime Meridian so that the False Son focuses on the drones as you find cover. You can also use the ground spikes for protection from his laser attacks.

Phase three, stay close to the gold Geode pillars to regenerate your abilities. Also, don't hit the pillars too fast because they'll respawn throughout the fight.

Use Power Elixirs for added strength. Note that always staying near the cover may make you vulnerable to melee boss attacks.

By following these steps and having some good strategy in place, you'll unlock False Son and bring another powerful character into your Risk of Rain 2 arsenal.
