Head to the right and then to the left until you find a location where there is one enemy standing in front of a slope. Go up the slope, kill the enemy, and head toward the Upper Pagoda Keeper's Shrine. Activate the shrine to save.
Head back to where the stone figurines were and carefully jump down into the area below, which will trigger a fight against Captain Lotus-Vision, one of the more powerful Yaoguai chiefs. He's not terribly difficult, but you'll want to be ready for him, at least.
