Old Rattle-Drum Quest
From Windrest Hamlet Keeper's Shrine in Yellow Wind Formation, you will find the boss of a Tiger's Acolyte on a stone bridge. You can simply walk straight from the shrine towards the bridge to start the fight. After the fight is over, you get an essential item called Old Rattle-Drum belonging to the son of the Acolyte.
A unique clue will point you in the direction of the boy's lost soul: when you're close to his ghostly soul, your vision will be blurred. Once more, keep in mind that the spirit of the boy can be found in three sections of the Yellow Wind Formation.
Location #1 to Use the Old Rattle-Drum – Windrest Hamlet
To activate the Old Rattle-Drum key item for the first time, face towards the town just right next to the Windrest Hamlet shrine. From said shrine, go right in the direction of the town's gate. Once you make that left at the gate, a "Use" prompt for the item will appear. Upon doing so, you call Withering Corpses you have to subdue.
Location #2 to Use the Old Rattle-Drum – Windseal Gate
For the second location, go to the Windseal Gate shrine in the Valley of Despair. Inside, go down the main path forward and take a right at the first fork. Run across the bridge in front of you and then take a left to travel under a building. Doing so will blur your vision, and you'll be told to "Use" the Old Rattle-Drum key item. Using it will spawn more enemies into the area. Defeating them will allow you to head to the final destination.
Location #3 to Use the Old Rattle-Drum – Sandgate Village, Valley of Despair
My last stop was Sandgate Village, near the Valley of Despair shrine. From the shrine, head straight into the village and take the main path further in. Through the first door, Earth Wolf is present. Defeating it, head right before the second door and fall down the path beside the statue. Approach the well for it to glow with a visual effect and prompt you to 'Use'. The drum will lead to a short cinematic of the boy jumping down the well.
Defeat the Mad Tiger – Secret Boss
The final part of the quest is defeating the Mad Tiger, which can be found in the well that the boy jumped into. Approach the well and interact with it to jump down and trigger a boss fight.
After defeating him, you get rewarded with Blood of the Iron Bull, Yaoguai Core, and Stone Spirit material. You can absorb the spirit of the Mad Tiger, too, and pick up the Plaguebane Gourd from the front wooden chest.
