If you don't know how to play PS5 games remotely on Steam Deck, here is a guide that will help you.

The Valve Steam Deck represents a jack-of-all-trades gaming powerhouse. Everyone knows that it plays PC games and doubles as a Linux computer, but very few people know it's possible to play PS5 titles. In fact, you can now play PS4 and PS5 titles with your Steam Deck, access your favorite media streaming services, and enjoy all your favorite movies and TV shows.

Here is a guide to help you with logging in to a PS5 on the Steam Deck.

To install PlayStation Remote Play on your Steam Deck, first have a Steam Deck and install it onto the same Wi-Fi network as your PS5. A Bluetooth keyboard and mouse are recommended; however, it is an optional choice for empowering good usability.

First off, boot your Steam Deck into desktop mode, and install the Linux application chiaki-ng. In this application you just installed, log in to your PS5 through PlayStation Remote Play. Lastly, add that chiaki-ng as a non-steam game to your Steam so you could have easy access into game mode.

Clarity: The revised excerpt clearly informs the user about the hardware and software which is to be utilized.

Emphasis: A Bluetooth keyboard and mouse have been emphasized because it changes the whole user experience.

Readability: The revised version has rephrased by shorter sentences and more active voice for better readability.

Step 1: Open Desktop Mode

"First thing to do is boot your Steam Deck into desktop mode. Press the STEAM button in the lower left corner of the screen. A menu comes up. Scroll down to the bottom and select Power, then press A. Then go down to the second-to-last option, Switch to Desktop, and hit A again. Your Steam Deck will now reboot into the KDE desktop."

Step 2: Download Chiaki-ng

Finally, be in desktop mode, access the blue square icon—Discover— found at the taskbar, lying at the bottom left of the screen. A menu will open for you by clicking that icon. You may search and install applications through this menu.

In the search blank, without quotes on the top left of the menu, type `chiaki-ng`. This will cause a search to be run, and you should see the chiaki-ng application in the results.

You can download chiaki-ng by clicking on the "Download" button beside the application. Hitting this button will initiate the download process, thus adding chiaki-ng to your Steam Deck. Note: you may see a "Remove" button next to an application on this screen if you have it already installed on your device.

Step 3: Configure PlayStation Remote Play

Once chiaki-ng is successfully installed, turn your PS5 on and head off to the settings menu. There are some settings that have to be fine-tuned for the best functionality of Remote Play.

To activate Remote Play, navigate to Settings > System > Remote Play. Make sure you switch over to "On." This allows your PS5 to be remotely controlled.

You'll also want to configure the power-saving settings on your PS5. This way your Steam Deck can wake up your PS5 from its low-powered rest mode. To do this, head over to Settings > System > Power Saving > Features Available in Rest Mode. And flip on the settings to "Stay Connected to the Internet" and "Enable Turning on PS5 from Network.".

Record your PS5's IP address in the Settings menu. You'll need it in the next step to connect your Steam Deck to your PS5 via chiaki-ng. These are available under Settings > Network > Connection Status > View Connection Status. This is important info to note because you are going to need this in the next steps to establish a proper connection between both devices.

Step 4: Configure Chaiki-ng

Open the chiaki-ng app on your Steam Deck. You will find something similar to the below screen.

In the "Host:" field, enter the IP Address from the PS5 that you noted down and then click the "Add" button.

The next screen should show whatever is under "Console" as "PS5". You now have two options. Below, on the left, you can log in using the "PSN Login" button, or on the right, you can look up your PlayStation gamer tag using the "Public Lookup" button. After you complete either of these, you should be returned to the "Register Console" screen, and a string of symbols should have filled the "PSN Account-ID" field.

Now, flip over to your PS5, and go to Settings > System > Remote Play > Link Device. You'll find a code displayed on your PS5 screen now.

Back on your Steam Deck, you enter that code into the "PIN" field on the chiaki-ng register screen found in Figure 6. Click "Register." Please note that this button may not be clickable until all the fields have been filled out.

A message will come up on your Steam Deck that states your PS5 has been registered. If you did everything right, you will be sent back to the main page where an image of your PS5, its IP address, status, and ID are shown. This should have changed to the right "registered".

The registration is complete, and the last step is to create a Steam shortcut for chiaki-ng. It will let you access relatively easily when your Steam Deck is in Game mode.

Step 5: Making a Steam Shortcut

To do this, go to the screen in the chiaki-ng application where your PS5 information is given. On top of this screen, you'll see an option: "Create Steam Shortcut."

After pressing the button, you'll be taken to a screen with two input fields: "Steam Game Name" and "Launch Options." Unless you've special requirements for a game configuration, it is preferable to leave these fields unchanged.

Just click the "Create" button located at the very top right.

Finish this step to add the chiaki-ng shortcut to the Steam Library. Now you can launch PlayStation Remote Play on your Steam Deck.

After that, when your Steam Deck is in game mode, gaze in your Steam Library for the app chiaki-ng and launch the application. Click on "Play" and select your PS from the list. Press the "A" button on your Steam Deck.

This will start up your PS5. With it, you can now browse menus, select games, and carry out other customization settings remotely.

If you like, you can even add a touch more personality in with the chiaki-ng control template. Head on over to the Steam menu screen and locate a template for the PS5 DualSense controller. You can even pair up a physical controller, mouse, or keyboard to switch to when you want to use those inputs.

To end your Remote Play session, press and hold the top bumpers with the control sticks. This will bring up an overlay menu in your view. This is where you can save your current session or close it permanently. Should you select to close, it will also ask if you wish to leave your PS5 in rest mode.

With these steps, you should be able to stream all your favorite PS5 games easily on your Steam Deck, at home or on the go.
