Grinding in Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster can be a time-consuming endeavor, but there's a strategic method that utilizes the Control ability and enemy manipulation to significantly improve efficiency. Here's a detailed breakdown:

How to grind in Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster

Preparation: Mastering the Beast

Unlocking Control: The cornerstone of this strategy is the Control ability. This allows you to take temporary command of enemies. To permanently add Control to your arsenal, you'll need to master the Beastmaster job on at least a few characters. Beastmaster is unlocked after defeating the boss in the Galuf's Well dungeon, so it becomes available relatively early in the game.

Boosting the Grind (Optional but Highly Recommended):  Later in the game, you'll gain access to consumable "Boost" items. These temporarily multiply the experience points (EXP) and Ability Points (ABP) you earn in battle. Ideally, you'll want to aim for the maximum 4x boost for both EXP and ABP to drastically reduce grinding time.

The Prototype Playground:

Island Getaway: Once you acquire the fire-powered ship as your primary mode of transportation, set sail southeast on the world map. You're looking for a small island – the second one to the left of the larger, crescent-shaped island. This unassuming speck of land holds the key to your grinding success.

The Solo Prototype: This island features a single enemy encounter – the formidable Prototype. While this mechanical menace packs a punch, it's precisely what makes it an ideal target for your Control shenanigans.

The Control and Conquer Strategy:

Seizing Control (or Trying To): The core of this method hinges on successfully using Control on a Prototype. Here's where things can get a little tricky. Control has a chance to miss, so having multiple characters with the Beastmaster job equipped increases your odds of snatching control. Don't get discouraged if it takes a few tries – perseverance is key!

Turning the Tables: Once you've successfully taken control of a Prototype, the fun begins.  The Prototype has a devastating ability called "Self-Destruct" in its arsenal. However, you can turn the tables and use this very move to your advantage. By commanding the Prototype to Self-Destruct, you'll instantly defeat it and simultaneously rack in a significant amount of EXP and ABP.

Reaping the Rewards (The Boosted Payoff):

Where this method truly shines is the efficiency it offers, especially when combined with boosts. Here's what you can expect to gain with a 4x EXP and ABP boost setup:

Level Up Faster: Defeating a Prototype with Self-Destruct grants a whopping 8,000 EXP. With the 4x boost active, this translates to a staggering 32,000 EXP, significantly accelerating your character's level progression.

Master Jobs in a Flash:  You'll also receive 16 ABP per Prototype takedown. With the 4x boost applied, that jumps to a rewarding 64 ABP. Mastering job classes, which require substantial ABP investment, becomes a much less daunting task.

Keep in Mind:

The Chance Factor:  Remember, Control has a miss chance, so it might take some repeated attempts to successfully take over a Prototype. Patience is a virtue when employing this strategy.

Boosts for Efficiency: While using Boosts is not mandatory, it undeniably cuts down on the overall grinding time.

Alternative Grinding Methods:  This Prototype manipulation strategy excels in the early to mid-game. As you progress further in the story, you might encounter even more lucrative grinding spots. However, this method remains a solid and reliable option throughout a significant portion of the game.
